To pick up a rod today. I had a chance to take some glam shots of the ACR and FN SCAR

First up the FN SCAR

Nice pictures of some gorgeous weapons. Too bad they're so expensive. I'd pick up a black SCAR for anything under $2k. :-) Wishful thinking...

I like how the ACR grip texture is still comprised of Magpul logos.

The Scar is an amazing looking rifle, I just feel like FN failed when it came to designing the stock, if they put the ACR stock on the Scar it would +1,000. As far as preformance and all that jazz, I shall keep my mouth shut until I've handled both (which is going to be a very long time).

I would pick the SCAR over the ACR it just looks better plus it has iron sights, i dont see any on the ACR pics.
Do you no what they are both selling for.

well the enhanced ACR is a more direct comparison to the SCAR although the prices are different. Its really a shame those guns are priced where they are.

Neither do anything for me...thanks god too cause I can't afford either one. :(

Well they both look great, I guess I'd lean towards the SCAR in a 16" bbl. I like metal better than plastic though, have an M96 and it seems like a bit of a forerunner to these guns. But these are I'm sure fantastic guns.

So how did you do high key without a light box?

I used a white background and a good flash. Set the flash to overexpose the white background, set your camera to balance the light correctly and you get magic :)

Wow!!! Great shots. And you took these at the toy shop?

How much flash overexposure? How about an example :)

My flash is capable of +3 stops.

You can increase you flash power or use a higher ISO when taking the photo.

Just curious... do the CA versions have to be equipped with a BB?

All offlist semi detachables need a BB w 10 rounders.

Nope. Dont forget about featureless builds. And a BB makes a rifle a fixed mag gun, not a detachable.

I agree with you about the SCAR but both of these guns dwarf in comparison to the the HK 416 and HK 417/ HK MR556 and HK MR762. I saw a SCAR at the last gunshow for $1999 out the door with no tax so they are already around $2000 and with the new HK rifles coming out they will be dropping. I honestly would just wait for the HKs but thats just me. I am picking up both HKs when available later this year...

The price of the SCAR and ACR really make me appreciate my XCR. It will probably be the last 5.56 rifle I own.
If I ever drop over $1500 on a rifle, it will probably be .308.
I will, however, add your very nice pictures to my collection :)

Sorry but the new HK civi rifles are garbage. Having shot them I can only say this not even for 1/2 the msrp. LWRC, POF, LMT, Ruger even > HK

I would hold out for the tactical ACR with rails. A little more time and they will hit the market.

With the shorter barrel the SCAR would make sense to me. But we cannot have modern SBRs here, and too much barrel is exposed for my tastes in the 16" version. The ACR lets you grab further forward, which gives you more control.
