(Pause for dramatic oohhh, ahhss & Sucker!) :43:

Hey team,
I just thought I would share with you the newest addition to the family, my Medusa SS 16M, her serial # is under (00055)

This is the basic version, it was purchased from Landworld and took them three weeks to deliver it!.. But it did come with the BB installed and the original mag as a parts kit.

Rifle gear preformed the DROSS and of course handled it all with the upmost professionalism. Although I did find some new finger prints on it!.. Bastards.. jk.. But I did manage to pick up a few things while I was there as well.. Thanks guys..

Anyway on to the fun stuff.. Yes! Sheís still got that new gun smell..

It's just the photos. Probably the reflection since the receiver is the only part of the rifle that's metal. Here's mine, you can see it's all black.

It could be worse...look at my pictures. Bushmaster shipped my rifle with no case deflector installed!!! I called Bushmaster and they sent a new one FedEx. Got it within 2 days. Apparently they got quite a few calls about it. Gotta love a rifle that's made in America...it's all about the attention to detail.

I've been getting closer and closer to drinking the ACR kool-aid, so I've been looking into some things that would be pretty much essential to me buying one.

It looks like it's probably possible to upgrade the Basic to the Enhanced model by replacing the handguard and stock (if and when those parts become available on their own). To those of you who already have them, does that sound likely?

Also, Remington have said in the latest American Rifleman that they will probably come out with an aluminum stripped lower sometime later. Since the upper is the numbered part, it should be a simple matter to switch.

I really like the modularity of the M4 style weapons, but the ergonomics of the ACR (and the caliber change option) are very attractive. If it turns out you can trick out the ACR as well, then that makes it even more of a possibility I'll sell a kid or a kidney for one sooner or later.

Get past it. It's the same price as your average "high-end" AR15 (Noveske, LWRC, Barret Rec7, etc.). Biggest difference is caliber modularity. As far as prices coming down, dealer cost is $1900. You're already seeing them in the $2100 shipped range. The chance of them getting any cheaper than that is slim.

What, you mean the $50 transfer fee? Yeah, we closed early today :D

Get rid of that Magpul forward grip and get a LaRue.

The Magpul MVG is a better choice for both the MOE handguards and for these. Why bother to add a bolt on rail to a the Magpul handguard so you can then attach a rail mounted VFG when Magpul makes a VFG that is specifically designed to attach directly to their plastic handguards? And for under $20!

Gio
04-23-2010, 7:55 PM
Why would you want an aluminum receiver? If you remember the Masada now known as ACR was supposed to be a lighter yet better replacement for the M4 style rifle. Why would they make it aluminum? The lower only houses the FCG, all that does is slap the backside of the firing pin. Polymer is just as strong and it looks good as well. As for the price if you can snag one up for $2,100 plus shipping and fee that is still a pretty good deal.

Just my .02 ;)

Yes, designed for the MOE handguards...but it fits the price, therefore cheap. It just looks really cheap...like Hecho in Mexico cheap. Gripping the LaRue feels better compared to the MVG. LaRue is just sturdy. It comes with all three different end caps (Short, Long, Long-Flanged). The Long -Flanged is intentionally flared at the bottom for added control and comfort. It's weapon heat - chemical/solvent resistant. Well worth the investment.

If you want to save some money get the Magpu, but if you want quality go for LaRue.

Hahahaaa you guys crack me up.. sorry about the sights.. I was rushing it all perior to getting the kids.. youíll all be happy to know I switched them.. Thanks..

Ok so here are some of the first thoughts / impressions of the rifle.. Remember this is my rifle, that I paid for so Iím just speaking from first hand experience only..

First and foremost.. I paid a lot more than $2,100 for it!.. so Yes It kills me a little inside!.. Hey someone had to do it!.. Hahahaaa.

OkÖ. So now the gun porn is completed it time to go into thoughts of it..
After the wow / cool factor is gone (doesnít take to long) when actually braking down the rifle for what it truly is hereís my opinion of it..

Good / Praise / well done!:
1. Very user friendly..
2. Come apart simple and quick! With NO tools required..
3. Easy to work the controls (with the exception of the Fricken BB)
4. Looks like its going to be a fun rifle to shoot

Bad / *****es / gripes:
1. Feels rather plasticíee, the safe selector switch feel like itís NOT going to last that long at all. I give it a year or two tops!.
2. The receiver is all plastic too with the exception of the internal trigger mechanism, I mean even the trigger is plastic.. (itís just weird)..
3. Itís front heavy for sure!.. Overall the rifle is rather heavy!, lots of weight in the front barrel.
4. It is not balanced like the AR is.. (I might just need to get used to it)
5. NO sling or sling attachments and cheep sights were included with the rifle. Just ***** en here..

The boy and I heading out the range on Sunday to try her out, I plan on putting a few hundred rounds thru her so weíll see how she holds up and how accurate she is, as the ACOG should let me reach out a few hundred yards too.

Bottom line at this moment in time..
Was she worth the price..
NOÖ I don't think so! At least not yet.. I hope Iím wrong..

Would I recommend this rifle to friend??
NO I don't think so, at least not yet!..

Hey thanks for your time everybody Iíll post up the update Sunday night and let you know how she handled live.. Have a great weekend everybody..

"Hecho in Mexico cheap" - now thats funny  Alright, whatever you do stay away from the ACR since the majority of the rifle is made out of the same material and has a similar style and texture

Missed the Landworld part, I thought he bought all his extras and gun from you guys.

I think a lot of those "high end" ARs are overpriced as well.
