I am thinking of buying a Luger P08 from a friend. It is a "Erfurt" 1918 that I believe has been reblued. The condition is very nice, about 90% with some very minor pitting under the reblued surface. The numbers do match, except for the magazine.
Anyone out there with some guesses on a good price?

Thanks

There are too many variants to tell without seeing it. You might get a price range by using the search feature at www.gunbroker.com Being refinished is not in its favor although it may look nice.

Thanks for the quick reply. The blue book of gun values gives it a value of around $900. I was wondering how much the reblueing would reduce it? 50%???

thanks

Even re-blued, it could be worth a lot more if it were an artillery model. They had a long barrel and adjustable elevation sight. I don't think being re-blued would drop 50% off the value -- perhaps 20%

At $900 almost any Luger that shoots is a good deal.

If it has been reblued, it has only shooter value. I'd say $600 - $700.

If the mag and grips are desirable, they might bring up the price a little, as they could be sold separately and replaced with some shooter grade versions.

I would not go over $600 for a reblue 1918. 3 yrs ago maybe 700 for a good shooter but in this day a WWI luger $600. For a $300 more you can get a decent shooter/collector.

One more quick question? Is there a good way to tell if the gun has been reworked/reblued. We are still trying to figure it out. The barrel is flawless not a ware mark to be seen and the whole pistol is really around 95% or better comparing it to photos of Lugers in the 90%

I appreciate all your help in this matter.

Thanks again

pictures are needed. Is there a halo around the numbers on the barrel?

No numbers on the barrel, just "made in Germany" on the bottom. And it does look to me like the barrel was refinished, its just too nice.

Got my Luger on Friday! made a two gun deal, so I figure this one cost me about $600. Very happy and thanks for the Luger forum link, it helped alot. Turns out this is a shooter but that's what I wanted.
