I'm, not sure if this is the right thread. My question is this.

If your are issued a ccw permit in a specific county. Is that permit only valid in that County or the whole state of California? If so what are the exceptons? this is more of a curiosity ? as some friends and I were discussing it.

There are 4 possible permutations of PC 12050 licenses

Resident Concealed = Valid state-wide, typically a 2 year duration.
Resident Exposed = Valid in County of Issue ONLY, typically a 2 year duration.
Non-Resident Concealed = Valid in County of Issue ONLY, 90 day duration.
Non-Resident Exposed = Valid in County of Issue ONLY, 90 day duration.

Non-Resident = issued by City/County of Employment vs City/County of Residence.

Thank you.

Its also possible for the issuing authority to place reasonable restrictions on the license with regard to 'time, place & manner' of carry - they must be printed on the license.

So theoretically a County Sheriff could go above and beyone the 'normal' cases...and some probably do.
