Used an L1A1 flashhider (screwed right on) and a new fixed 10 round mag.

Now all it needs is the obligatory Tapco collapseable stock.

A Tapco T-6 stock will make it even cooler!

I'd like to see the bayonet spring-loaded, too. A touch of the button, and clack! Ready for action!

You think that would be considered a switchblade?

What fixed mag is that? Where did you get it from?

Thank God! After I saw a T-6 on a PTR-91 and a krebs AK, I about threw up. Enought already!

The mag:

I bought a 10 round mag and welded a plate behind it, i.e. fixed like the factory one. However, I discovered feeding problems (thin feed lips, out of spec alignment), yippee! I got out thee ole dremel and cut the fixed's lips and duckbill. Then I got another Yugo SKS mag, cut the dust cover and spring/follower. While carefully measuring and testing of how short the body needed to be, fitting only 10 rounds, I mated the two by welding and welded a plate over for that little open channel. Looks different, no FTF, but I have to modify the follower so I can get the BHO to work.

Why would you take off the original 10 round magazine just to install another 10 round magazine? What is the point?

I imagine he liked the looks more.

Although I'm left wondering - you got the mag to feed reliably? Over on sksboards, pretty much everyone who ends up trying aftermarket mags on SKSes eventually winds up going back to the factory mag just due to reliability issues.

Have you managed to find a suitable (i.e. just as reliable as factory) replacement for the original?

Well, I thought that reply answered it, short run down of it. Used factory Yugo mag, chopped it up, cut aftermarket mag, weld the two together.
