A coworker asked me to list up his Original 4 digit serial number (# 1111) 1911 colt in .45. He has been told it's a Military issue, year 1912. He describes it about 85%, the pics do not.....

Pics up, obviously not the original grips, the mag has an odd two tone look going, no markings what so ever on the mag. The barrel has good rifling but has some rust (i'll be cleaning it up in the next few days). Lots of bluing missing and a beautiful patina.

He is asking in the $2700 range obo.

A coworker asked me to list up his Original 4 digit serial number (# 1111) 1911 colt in .45. I will be taking pics Tuesday, so be patient.

He is asking in the $3500 range. I know this post is missing quite a bit, but I'd like to gain interest in advance.

Are you serious? The S/N is really 1111? Wow!

I'm sorry for the delay. My coworker was supposed to bring it to work with him this morning, he forgot (it happens when you get to his age lol). I should have it tomorrow evening, so pics thursday morning.

He also would be interested in trading for a "Kimber with a green laser" and cash.

Maybe, a modification made it so odd to show. I'm thinking of maybe it was modified to accept Cal compliant 10/30 PMag.
1911#1111 pix pls.

This is pretty. The flat backstrap is one of the signs of the 1911 over the 1911A1. Does this qualify for C&R? Quite the bit of history there.

Absolutely, but it still must go through an 01/07FFL since it is a handgun and not antique.

two things:

1) I do believe those grips are original. Very early 1911s had the wide-body grips.

2) That is a colt military magazine. WWI 1911's mags were two-tone in color like that because it was dipped in something. You'll have to ask an expert what the substance was but it's dual colored like that because the magazine was dipped half way into something.
