I was rolling this idea around in my head today. Say you have a .50BMG single-shot upper for your AR lower. Bolt action.

Assuming you had the expertise to build an AR lower from scratch with a mag well that could acommodate a .50BMG magazine, would the upper be readily converted to mag fed? By this I mean having the mag in the classical AR position, not out the side.

I know it depends on which upper, but I don't know if single shot uppers as a genre are considred convertible.

Doesn't matter, you had to have acquired or built your 50 BMG lower receiver prior to last year anyway. So, it is really a moot point for CA.

And no, I don't think you could make a magazine fed lower that would work with any 50 bmg upper out there b/c of the placement of the take down pins. They are in position to coincide with a standard lower. Therefore, the mag fed 50 BMG lower receiver would not work.
