I am going to try my best to make it. I have not made it to a match in over 6 months, but I have got to at least make it to the Leg Match on Sunday.

Anyone know if they updated the web site?? I didn't know they were shooting there the 25-26. I went to Camp Pendleton and Seeley instead.

I went to the site and saw that it was updated. Now I will go back to sleep

Not sure if I will compete....just too new to consider the State Championships "just another match"...but I might come and watch all the Calif pros strut their stuff.

I know I will learn something just from watching.

Come and shoot anyway... the match is for the little guys too! they have all the catagories... if you aren't classified yet.. you can shoot the Marksman class.. you never know.. you might win it!.

I thought I had to shoot Master until I was rated .... something like 3 contests.

If I come, I will definately bring my "Henrietta Haversack" Special. Who knows if they allow last minute entries, maybe I will enter.

It would be easier to void small, round, glass, childrens toys....than to tame the wind around here in March. The long range weather forecast DOES indicate dry skies though. As far as high overcast....who knows?

chickenfried
03-08-2006, 02:24 PM
I think wind ranging from 2-40mph and random weather from bright sunny skies to sudden hail, would make for better stories to hear :p

Beware of the cow paddies. The last few times I have gone out there, there were cows as far as the eye could see.

......and we DID have some hail last week, but there were no casualities or even serious injuries.

Russell Prentiss will be shooting really good that weekend, so unless your headed out there just to give it a try and eat some BBQ I'd stay home. Do they really have pancakes on Sunday morning???

Saturday is 80 shots... right?

both Friday and Saturday are 80 shot matches. I think Uncle Dirk changed things up slightly and axed the 3x600 on Friday.

of course....Sunday's the main event...:D

I wonder if DeMille is going to shoot, unless he hung up the service rifle for good and is sticking with his T2K.

NRAhighpowershooter
03-10-2006, 03:28 PM
Well Jim O'Connell will be there.. so DeMill better not get his hopes up if he does decide to show up and shoot... as for the weather.. as long as it doesn't rain and the wind is non-existant or less then 5mph for my offhand, I'll be a happy camper...

Affirmative on pancakes. They do breakfast Sat and Sunday with pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage and toast. Sat evening they serve up a big dinner (tri-tip/chicken, salad, baked potato, garlic bread, a dozen side dishes and cake) plus leftovers on Sunday after the match.

Another good reason to go is that someone inevitably shows up with a bunch of stuff for sale.

Should be a fun weekend. I look forward to seeing everyone (and outshooting them).

for those who have

for those who will

for those who will again :p

I sent 3 shots into someone else's target at a leg match in Sacramento last year during sitting, what a disaster! When it came to the 600 yard stage, I put 2 shots into the 10-ring, then 2 into the X, then f'ed up badly and shot a 6! :o

That had to have gone down as one of the more bizarre leg matches, someone else had a clean miss during offhand, HPS and another puller were perplexed. He still scored leg points though!

just goes to show, you gotta keep digging until you reach China!

(you'd really reach Australia though) :D

Well..my appearance at Coalinga is in jepardy right as of this moment.. I went to have an infected stye removed from the edge of my right eyelid yesterday.. as of right now.. my right eye is swollen shut :( The doc says I should be ok by Friday...... I hope so!!! I need 10 LEG points!!!

phish
03-29-2006, 11:48 AM
bummer dude, hopefully the swelling will go down by Sunday at the latest

What's up with these wrenches in the cogs? I won't be able to make Friday's match, since I've got to take care of escrow "stuff". :)

I'll happily take that wrench any day of the week though.

I'm donating my match fee for Friday to the juniors. It's for the children you know...

I had a good weekend 753-13 on Saturday and a 466-9 today. It's hard for us older people to get leg points against those young eyes that were out there today. Someday??

Pthfndr
04-02-2006, 08:09 PM
It was a tough crowd out there saturday. Scores were high at the top of all the classes. Some really good shooting going on. I shot a 759 and wasn't even near the top of the master class.

But I made up for it today with a 477 and, so I'm told, some more leg points :D

Consistency paid off and I didn't make any major foul ups.

Any of you Norcal guys going to be coming to Sac Valley next saturday for the 80 shot match?

NRAhighpowershooter
04-02-2006, 08:13 PM
congrats on the points!!! I'm too wiped out from this weekend to make Sac Valley next weekend.. maybe next month...

and since Kathryn got 8 points.. she now has 20 or 24 points.. she should LEG out at Perry and we won;t have to worry about her any more... darn 15yr old kids!!!!

Heh, I guess I'll take "first leather". :p

I was quite pleased to bump up my 600 yard performance on both days: 190-4X & 189-?X. It took me 18 months to finally improve on my previoius personal best of 188-3X back in '04.

I was a "mid packer" in the Expert class Saturday with a 747, but was happy with shooting a 475 today.

I'll have to see how this week unfolds, but I'm hoping to make a banzai run for one of the matches this coming weekend in Sacramento.

I had major screw ups on Sunday (wasted a perfectly good X on someone elses target at 600, not to mention the 300 rapid that I dumped into the 9'ring), but am happy to report that I will be getting my Master card in the mail soon. I made a pretty penny in the Expert class on Sat. Shot 750 on Fri and 765 on Sat and have a 749 from the last time I shot across the course (and also tanked the leg match).

Ernest, you're close buddy--it's just a matter of time now.

Nice job Pthfndr (who is that masked man)?

Woohoo, I'm right behind you! I shot a 188 on Saturday and backed it up with a 187 (with a first-shot 6!) on Sunday. My offhand is solid, now I just have to get my rapid fire technique worked out.

I missed getting the Expert card this weekend by 8 points. My 240-round score aggregate sits at 88.67%. :o

Olive drab boonie hat for sun

Creedmoore 22 shot offhand shell holder
Tru-Spec Digital cammies (hides the dirt REAL well) :D

I'm a newbie.... but what kind of outfit is that!?

High power shooters fire from positions without a front rest, and the coat is designed to give you support. It's stiff to help you in the offhand position, and it has rubber pads to keep the rifle from slipping around in rapid-fire stages. The glove keeps your hand from getting mangled by sling tension.
