Shipping the 50 out of state and because it's registered, it's an AW and I need to ship through an AW dealer apparently.
Anyone know of one up here?

DOJ will give you info if you call them.

An AW permit is NOT a 50BMG permit; they are separate and indepedent. Having one does not give you the rights/privileges of the other.
I also suspect there are somewhat fewer 50BMG permittees than AW permittees.
If it's a multicaliber gun (i.e, built off a DPMS single-shot 223 lower) that isn't distinctly a 50BMG, there's a chance that removing the 50BMG element (barrel/chamber) could render it a normal gun still registered as 50BMG but not requiring 50BMG special treatment for shipping (kinda like what the DOJ allows for
"by features" AWs). Get a letter in writing from DOJ before you attempt this.
Bill, very true.
At one time, I considered selling one of my .50's, so I called the DOJ (yeah, I know, shouldn't do that) for some advice. Never once did they mention anything about a .50 BMG permit; they just sent me a list of authorized AW dealers.
If I ever decide to sell one of my .50's (highly unlikely), I'll make sure to get a letter of confirmation from the DOJ.

For all of us, keep them in occupied territory, please.

Why do you need to ship it out of state through an authorized AW dealer if it is never coming back? Who's business is it to require this?

Trader Sports can handle both AW and 50BMG.
