These calls are small, 2-1/4" long and 3/4" in diameter. It's hard to tell the size in the picture.

How long does it take to make them?

Around an hour if I'm not pre occupied with the kids or stuff around the house. This material is not that easy to turn and that along with the polishing consumes most of the time spent. The nice thing is I can get it in many colors and paterns.

So you don't cast your own blanks?

No, I turn all of my calls. I have been thinking of making a mold and pouring some blanks but I would still need to turn them to get them polished up.

so is this an open tube or is there something inside (never seen a predator call up close).

There is a reed in the center of the call on closed reeds and a toneboard on the outside of an open reed. I will post up some pictures of open reed calls soon.

here's a picture of a couple of each type, I don't have a picture of the inside of the closed reed right now.

With a silicone mold it's possible to get the polished result with only a casting seam.

Do you have a link where I can get some info on making a silicone mold? I know a guy that makes marlin jigheads and I think he uses a silicone mold. I just haven't asked him where he gets his resins and mold material.
