Got my new blackberry finally!

What are some suggestions for good apps fellow Calguns users.
What else should I do with the phone.

The first thing I did was bookmark Calguns.net of course.

go to Blackberry App World (http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/appworld/?GXHC_gx_session_id_=0655939755a89b1a&).
Pandora's good if you have unlimited data
itookthisonmyphone is handy (automatically uploads any pix you take to as many hosting accts like photobucket, flicker, etc. that you want... can be turned off of course :p )
if you fish or dive there's a tide app.
those are the ones i use most right now
i'd be interested in hearing about other cool ones myself.

The ones I use are: (and you will notice I have apps for the same purpose - I don't know why)

QuickPull Free (a must IMO - simulates a battery pull and resets your phone and fixes practically any issue you may have - works great when you're like me and have a hard case or any case on the phone and makes battery pulling difficult)
Facebook
AIM
Gchat
Opera Mini
Yelp
Pandora
Poynt
BBWeather
ScoreMobile
Dictionary.com
Where (similar to Poynt but has some features that Poynt doesn't and vice versa)
Google Maps
Good Food Near You (similar to Yelp but for food - food is important to me!)

Quick pull is a definite must. You can schedule it and it will tell you if your memory is getting low so you can initiate a quick pull.

Get the bolt browser. I think it's a little faster than Opera and way better than the standard bb browser.

what no skype!

Skype. its on most bb if you're on verizon combine with wifi. wow international calling too, unlimited skype to skype. go nuts with it.

oh, check out the international movie. closer to reality than most of us would care for.

Definitely up for the bb messenger group for Cal Guns. I'll check it out Prodigy.
nice thing about that is it won't go toward text SMS charges.

tagged & thx for recommendations; especially pandora & quick pull. i'll need more time to form an opinion on bolt, but it's definitely quicker than bb browser (still on edge:(...).

I have Poynt on mine but usually find that its information is outdated. Still for free the price is right.

The only productivity application I've purchased is MyCartPro which is a handy shopping list application.

Of course I have a couple of games but those are BB Storm specific and I have Fartstorm (http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/887) installed.

Trapster. User-informed gps radar trap locator. Show's active road map with your location, location of nearby red-light cameras, static radars, recently reported hidden CHPs etc. Audibly notifies you of upcoming hazards. Keep your phone plugged in, though, it will drain your battery in a hurry.

Ive got a BB Bold and I'm curious what the advantage is of using quickpull... can't you just do the same thing from the keyboard? When my BB is acting up I press ALT + ENTER + DEL and it reboots.

The apps I use the most are:

Google Maps (with "Latitude" so I can share my location with my friends)
Gmail - I use gmail for my hosting and email on my work domain too.
Google Mobile App (awesome voice search feature)
Poynt
Viigo
Pandora
Sudoku

Do you guys recommend any good Blackberry cases for the blackberry tour?

VLingo Plus is my favorite. Voice recognition app. It allows you to make calls, create and send emails, do Internet searches, and text messages by voice, hands free, even through your bluetooth. It types your voice message as you speak, into any text box. Takes a little time to get used to as it 'learns' your voice recognition, but definitely better than typing everything out on the keyboard. There's a free version that gives you some basics to see if you like it or not.

i just use the silicone skin. its has its drawbacks (size & its grippy, which can be a plus depending on what you're doing, and it wont work w/ charging mats and the like), but it offers the protection from drops, bumps, & scratches that i need.
tried hard clamshell-style cases but prefer the skin. YMMV.

I also love Google voice (can call internationally with much cheaper rates than with my carrier T Mobile) and Google Maps on my Blackberry 9700.

I don't have a tour, but just a comment about cases.. I thought a case would make my phone too bulky, and harder to access.. But when I got a new BB 8320, and decided to use the cheap included fake leather case that came with it, I noticed that the phone noticably stayed cleaner and less dinged up (still looks pretty new after several months now, maybe a year) - I really like how well the phone is protected. I wasn't a fan before, but I've warmed up to the idea of having a cell phone case and will probably use one on all my future smartphones.

Try the Sedio Innocase. http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csr4bb9630-bk.htm

I have it for my curve 8900 and it just adds a little bit of bulk to it but it's a very solid sturdy case.
