Hey guys ive been meaning to purchase a semi auto 12 ga. shotgun. I want one thats tactical with pistol grip and ghost sights. Now i know that benelli has the M1 which i like very much. But do all of them come with chokes? I do not want a choke because i want to be able to shoot slugs. Also what is the difference between the M2 and the M1? One last question, As far as the M3's go , the whole semi auto/pump feature, how does one switch from semi auto to pump? is it a simple button or is there a switch? Thank!!!

Get the FN SLP. It's cheaper, faster, and less recoil than the Benelli's you mention. It doesn't have a pistol grip, though.

I shoot rifled slugs out of my smooth bore shutgun i use ic choke or mod.

If you have a rifled barrel shotgun shoot unrifled slugs its as easy as that.

Dont shoot rifled slugs in a rifled barrel it wont group!

I have an M3 and it is a pretty light shooting shotgun. In auto mode of course, in pump mode it's your typical pump.

As for switching between semi and pump take all of half a second. There is a switch on the mag tube that you turn to change modes.

Only complaint I've heard about the M1/M3's is some have said since the receiver is made out of aluminum. They are afraid that with enough pressure (like a tank running over it), the receiver can bend and hinder the bolt from moving back and forth. Wonder if the military knows this could be a problem on their ARs

I'm not 100% sure about the Benelli M1, but the M3 Super90's semiauto mode is inertia-operated. This means that increasing the mass of the shotgun will cause problems cycling in semiauto mode. For a home defense shotgun, the simple act of mounting a dedicated forend weaponlight and maybe a sidesaddle to your inertia-operated Benelli could render it a very pretty single shot.

Oh, and the M3super90 has a freaking FORK for a loading gate that just loves to take chunks out of any digits you're using to load. Hopefully the M1 doesn't have that particular finger-eating 'feature'. I tried a Benelli Super90, I bought a Mossberg 590.

This is Winchesters version of the FN. It only shot's 2 3/4" shells, but is cheaper. It's a SX2 Practical MKII.
