sorry, new to all this.....what is the difference between .223 and 5.56? or are they the same....is any perferable in the AR15 world?

In a nutshell, you can shoot .223 Rem. out of a 5.56mm chamber, but vice versa not recommend due to higher pressure of 5.56mm military rounds.

Opt for .223 Rem. if you want build a tack-driver.

Personally, I like the option of shooting 5.56mm ammo, being a military-style rifle and all.
