Well no luck for the opener in Tehema Wildlife Area. Only heard 1 gobbler on Friday but of course couldn't shoot it. The rest of the weekend didn't hear or see anything. Surprisingly there weren't that many people there.Talked to some of the other hunters and they all said the same thing they didn't hear or see anything. Hopefully ill get go try my luck on a private ranch soon.

I checked out Knoxville Wildlife area Sunday night and Monday morning. Got there around 4pm Sunday, thinking that anyone who was out Sunday would have packed up and left, but the there were cars and trucks all over the place. The hunters I talked to all said that they didn't get anything. Monday morning was quieter, not nearly as many cars out. Windy with light rain, I only heard one gobble and it sounded "off" enough that I think it might have been a hunter. Again, the couple people I talked to said no luck. Given how many people were there Sunday (and probably Saturday), I think the turkeys might have been overloaded with the shear number of people going through the area.

Spent the weekend by Lake Nacimiento on a 400 acre private ranch. Turkeys galore, just not on the property for long. They wandered quickly after daylight onto neighboring properties where they knew they wouldn't get shot...

Didn't shoot a Jake that wandered 15 yards in front of me because I thought it was a bit small. Either he was really pre-occupied or army digital camo works really well with Turkeys.

Had a chance to shoot a nice Turkey I called in at gray light in the morning, even after my partner rolled onto his cell phone and turned it on, then a text came through... The bird was fine with the phone, just not with him backing into some twigs on the log we were hiding by...

When we would drive back to our rental house we would see giant Toms with 5 or 6 hens strolling through open meadows next to the road...on other people's land...

It was a great trip though, lots of fun for my first Turkey hunt.

Nothing here...saw lots but all on private property. Going to try out this small public place since i've seen flocks of them when fishing. Be careful!!! Have you guys heard of this yet?

with out near big sandy on a few private ranches and got a few 40LBS gobblers. Many many calls all over, huge birds and flocks just moving in and out of the properties and blm in zone A2. Had a blast over the weekend. Got me a 300LBS hog, saw a fat 80lbs bob cat whose been eating a lot of quail, almost took out a pack of 4 coyotes but decided to just let them roam.

"Stephen Henderson of Fremont, mistook him for a turkey and fired."

How can anybody perceive a camo'd person crawling, for a turkey! Either he's having a turkey hallucination or he got a grudge towards his friend and shoot. That's beyond insane!

Yeah I don't know how you mistake a 200lb guy for a 15lb bird. But who knows...I wasn't there.

Thank God!
