I wanted to know if anyone knows a place that carries a good selection of hunting boots, or boots that will fit the need. I live in the LA area and dont want to drive all the way to Bass Pro shops just for that.

A good pair of boots are worth the trip. You need to be able to size yourself and try them for fit and comfort. I like the Danner boots, I have 2 pair the sharptails and proghorns. No need to try them on any longer I can mail order from Cabela's.

I like Danners for everything. Im sure there are other good choices but i recommend avoiding cheap boots because you wil regret it later. Buy once cry once applies to boots.

For most of the Cali hunting I do, I wear these.

I am usually a believer in getting what you pay for, but these boots have been AWESOME! Very comfortable, Light weight, Warm. I have put a whole lot of miles on them and they still look new. I think 17* is the coldest weather I have worn them in and my feet were warm. I dont think I would wear them in the snow though, but they are great for the Desert and Forrest around here.

Im in the market for another set of boots. Ive always wore danners and loved them. The last 2 pairs have failed. One pair basically fell apart and last weekend the replacement pair had the heel cup come loose and curl into the back of my heal. Im still limping. Im done with danners.

These are the boots I have used for years. They used to last for two seasons of chucker hunting but they changed the design and now I only get one year out of them.

Danner products made in China (most of the line is now) have failed me and I won't buy them anymore. The soles chipped apart from walking on my property in Oroville and the soles are Vibram. I do however have a pair of 15yr old USA made Danner 8" boots that are water tight and still in good shape. My Sorels lasted better than my Danner hikers and the leather on the Sorels lasted better than my Danner USA made boots. Just my .02. I can't say which brand is better than my Danners but I will probably buy some Danner traditional "kettersole Sp?" vibrams sold at Cabelas for my next boot. I think they sell boots to the military now as well.

I've been wearing my Danner Pronghorns for multiple years (quail, chuckar, dove, etc in the desert). They are wonderful and haven't worn out yet and have far outlived any lower end boots I've owned. Definitely worth it. I bought them at Turners in San Bernardino. I believe they have stores much closer to LA.

My 'cheap' boots have served me well. Literally hundreds of miles of mountains, deserts, mud, water, etc. Comfy and warm from day one, no break in. And on sale this week at Big 5.

I own three pair of Danners and love them all! I bought one pair from shoebuy.com at a good price (like 25% off) and another pair at Turners at 50% but that was just luck.
