I just ordered 10. Yes, they are a little tube to hold oil to lube your M1 Carbine but also slip through the end of your sling to attach the sling to the buttstock.

Yes. The oiler and the sling allowed officers and soldiers to scratch themselves better by freeing both of their hands.

BTW, Patton carried an M1 Carbine. Betcha he didn't clean it.

FYI:
Looks like the PS111 Carbine Oilers, Good Used $4.50, are sold out, they are gone from the E-store. New ones and bad ones still show up.
