Just wondering the approx value of this rifle is. I bought it from a friend's dad. It won't be that much since it is a post-1964 model

Winchester 1894 (Model 94) 30-30 20" Barrel
Manufacture Date is 1977

The rifle is in excellent condition. It has a side mounted scope, but I plan on taking it off.

That is a good deal. Winchester 94s in .30-30 seem to be going in the $375-600 range right now. Sometimes a bit more or less, depending on condition. I don't have a blue book here at work, but that is what I have been seeing them sell for lately. If yours is in used condition, but not pitted, dinged, or otherwise mangled, it would probably be worth the high $400's.

Until Winchester/Herstal starts making these again, these rifles will at least maintain their value, if not increase it. Winchesters have always commanded a bit of a premium over Marlins. The Post-'64 models may not be as collectable as the Pre-'64s, but people still want them. And if you look online, they can still go for significantly more than the prices I said if they are interesting. $275 is a steal nowadays. Sometimes they come up for that, but not often in the past few years. I'd say that you did more than ok in that deal.

A good deal. At auction these bring around $300 to $370. So with the scope and mount you did real well.

thanks. makes me feel better about the buy. Now I just need to start reloading so I don't get raped on 30-30 ammo prices

What does it cost at Wallyworld? It is normally their lowest-priced rifle cartridge. Up until Bam-bam, it was right around $10/box of twenty for brand-name hunting ammo. Reloading is still worth it, but .30-30 is usually pretty cheap.

the Winchester & Remington were both $13.97 a box for 150gr. I picked up a few boxes there and got some from CTD for $13.21+ shipping

definitely the cheapest places I found it.

I sold one about a year ago for $360.00. look like yours with the scope.
I bought it new in the late 80s
