LOOK FOR THE KNIVES, BOREALIS FLASHLIGHT IN THE END OF THIS THREAD.

Hi guys,
I have made a rechargeable conversion of a Surefire 6P flashlight, into a weapon light of 350 lumens.

Of course Surefire have one, but it is 120 lumens for 20 minutes, using two of the 123's batteries ($4) every 20 minutes and costing $380
So, I though I could do better.
http://www.surefire.com/M951XM07-with-Dual-Thumbscrew-Mount

You can mount this baby in a 5.56 mm a 50 caliber or a shotgun, it will shrug recoil no matter what caliber you shoot.
How come?

I have machined the interior of the Surefire body, to accept the use of a premium quality Lithium Ion rechargeable battery.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/blackbear11784/Flashlights%202/surerech.jpg

The special machined Surefire body is a part of the equation.
The Lamp is a new one it and output and incredible 350 lumens (well more than any Surefire weapon light)

The tail cap has a remote cable switch with pressure pad, so you can place it on the stock of your rifle or shotgun, under your thumb. Yes thumb pressure will activate the light. You also get a regular tail cap switch.

Usually this type of light uses 123’s batteries, they go fast under the power of 350 lumens, so we opted for a long run time battery, rechargeable, that will last you close to 2 hours of run time.

Moreover, when you are unsure of how much battery juice is in the battery, just pop it into the charger and you get a full charged battery, ideal if you practice much night shooting with your AR.
You cannot do that with 123’s primary batteries unless you are willing to dump expensive half used batteries.

Li Ion technology will provide extend use if you don’t use the light, an occasional full top charge every 5 months will keep the battery at full capacity.

We have used a crenellated bezel or a flat bezel in the glossy model, (your choice) the matte black model use a fluted bezel

I provide the light with a quick detach LEVER ring, so you only have to attach it to a Weaver or Picattiny mount.
E-mail me if you want to mount it on a sporting rifle and need to know which mount to use and where in the rifle to put it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/blackbear11784/Flashlights%202/2010_022322ruger0011beamof345l.jpg

Charger good for 110 to 240 volts, I provide plugs for Australian, European or UK if necessary

$175 for the weapon light or $135 for the flashlight (in glossy anodized)

or in hard anodized matte black $145 for the flashlight
or $185 for the weapon light

PAY PAL at:
jcharles11784(at)yahoo(dot)com
or I can send you a paypal request which you can pay with your credit card

Also write me a this e-mail if you need more information or want to pay with money order or check.

If you PM me here, it will take longer to answer you, as I am working away from the computer, while e-mails I always can answer from my cell phone.

Thank you for looking

P/S I am located in NY but I ship to California

SAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS

Surefire weapon lights are very good, but they run on RC123’s batteries, which are costly (around $2 each for the Surefire brand).

A two battery Surefire will do 65 lumens for 1 hour on two batteries or 120 lumens for 20 minutes with the P-61 lamp.

A 3 battery weapon light will do 200 lumens on three 123’s batteries for 20 minutes.

That is $18.00 in batteries for one hour to throw a 200 lumens beam, with a lamp’s life of 36 hours.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/blackbear11784/Flashlights%202/twolights.jpg

You can see such a light (a Surefire 9P) on the picture left. On the right side is my offering of the tactical weapon light with a lamp life of 50,000 hours, running on a rechargeable battery with 2 hours run time, and outputting 300 lumens.

My rechargeable battery life is 2,000 hours (it can be recharged 1,000 times) after that, a new battery will cost $23 shipped.

If you were to use the Surefire 200 lumens light for 2,000 hours you will spend $36,000 in batteries.

Stop wasting money in expensive 123’s and e-mail me for the tactical weapon conversion.
And it’s shorter and lighter too.

On right is a picture of the glossy anodized weapon light with the pressure pad switch (you also get the regular switch for when the light is out of the rifle), all steel LEVER mount, charger and battery. The weapon light uses the 350 lumens 1 level lamp. $175 shipped

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/blackbear11784/Flashlights%202/twolights.jpg

Here is the picture of the weapon light in matte black hard anodized type III, with the pressure pad switch and the all steel LEVER mount $185 shipped

The flashlights are the same but without the mount or the pressure pad switch, the glossy flashlight is $135 and the matte black is $145 shipped

The flashlight uses the 350 lumens 1 level lamp OR the 5 level lamps (your choice)

You can e-mail me at jcharles11784(at)yahoo(dot)com for more information, pictures, OPTIONS and references.
I have options to customize the light to your needs, for example if you don't like cables, I offer instead a soft momentary switch that you can activate with the finger of your grasping hand. curly cords pressure pads for shotguns, straight for rifles, lightweight Weaver style mounts if you are concerned with weight.
E-mail me for the latest options available as I am always bringing new options to the system

Could the same be done with an E-series body and head?

Could the same be done with an E-series body and head?

I will post some pictures later today or tomorrow.

Unfortunately nobody is interested in drop ins Led's for the E2e, however four years ago was a lot of interest in a modification called "This is Nascar" for the handle of the originator.

The head of the E2e was streched and a thinner mineral crystal substituted to make room for the Surefire P-61 lamp (120 lumens, without reflector and using the E2e reflector)

The batteries will get so hot that the inside protection in them will kick in, stopping sending juice to the lamp after five minutes of continued use.

But the light was intended as a small tactical light that will be used at short intervals.

Also it was the smaller light that you can put in a rifle, if anybody is interested my version (almost new) is for sale at $110.00 including the ring.

Here it is:

Now, here is the Surefire 345 mounted on an AK using an UTG barrel mount

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/blackbear11784/Flashlights%202/2010_022322ruger0012.jpg

And here on a Mini 14 attached to the under arm by a Weaver base that has been screwed and poxi glass to the stock.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/blackbear11784/Flashlights%202/2010_022322ruger0013.jpg

And here attached to the scope, (can be up or sideways on either side of the rifle)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/blackbear11784/optics/2010_07150330.jpg

So it can be used on sporting rifles by attaching to the scope.

PRESENTING THE NEW
LION BOREALIS 1,150-LUMEN FLASHLIGHT

After 6 years of handcrafting the Borealis Rolls Royce, I have stopped making them in favor of the new LION BOREALIS.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/blackbear11784/optics/2004_03280018.jpg

The new light uses a different and new power source: three newly developed Lithium Ion, fully protected batteries.
The new batteries power the 3 ½ amps of the powerful Borealis bulb, and will produce 47 minutes of runtime.

Three extra batteries (for extra runtime) are available for $69.

The new Lion Borealis is $300 shipped, and includes two chargers and a cigarette lighter (12 volts) cord.

Since it is made with the “host” of the 4C format, it is much lighter than the Borealis Rolls Royce, at 12 ¾” long and 19 oz heavy.

It uses the same bulb and reflector of the famous Borealis Rolls Royce, so beam quality, throw distance and flood spread remain the same.
Extensive tests were done in hot, cold, underwater, and muddy environments, and the new LION (short for Li Ion batteries) is as sturdy and dependable as the old Rolls Royce.

Please e-mail me at jcharles11784(at)yahoo(dot)com for more information. My PayPal is the same as the address above.
Looking forward to being of service.

I use the new True-Nite XP-G R-5 345 lumens.
Speaking of throw this lamp have a good one BUT also plenty of flood.
This lamp will be ideal for a AR used to clear rooms (because the flood)

As you, I also like more throw in lights that are used for hunting.
I plan to offer a 300 lumens lamp that is a better thrower than the Thru-Nite (it also have some flood)
I see this lamp more useable for hunters that are after coyotes or pigs.

The throwing lamps are already in the mai (I have one that I tested) and will be here in 2 days.

Due to cost of Surefire host, I am not planning doing anymore in a Surefire body, but I have a source for Surefire clones that will be cut to my spec., and they are the same shape and quality as the Surefire 6P I used originally.

All Surefire filters, IR lenses, and paraphenalia will also fit this light.

I will offer a choice of Weaver ring or a more massive quick detach ring (heavy) for those that use the AR rifle.
For sporting rifles I like the lightweight of the Weaver.

Here is a picture of the two, your choice if you order.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/blackbear11784/Flashlights%202/2010_030822ruger0004.jpg

The new lights will have a choice of straight 9" cord in the pressure pad switch or the curly cord (for more lenght) that is featured in the water bowl

Here is a picture of the new light

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/blackbear11784/Flashlights%202/NEWBEAR.jpg

The gizmo at 8 o'clock is a barrel mount for sporting rifles I will be offering
The gizmo at 10 o'clock is a scope mount for sporting rifles I will be making

Also will be a shotgun barrel mount

After shipping and pay pal fees, is not much left for profit, so the tail cap switch, will be offered at $15.00 if you need it.

I already invested some money in components, but I will built a few units, to try out the acceptance of the light.

No other manufacturer will oofer so many options:

I offer three different mounts for your weapon light, an all steel, quick detachable LEVER mount, an ultralight Weaver style mount and a Daniel Defense style offset mount.

Why an offset?
It can serve you well if you have only a long top Picatinny rail (where your scope is) the offset will take the flashlight out of the line of sight if you want to mount it on the top rail

Also very practical for those that use a vertical fore grip.

Hi folks,

Thrunite is a very good LED drop-in.

There are 2 currently and the lumen output is greatly different. If you have the 1A XP-G R5 drop-in via IS Sphere Testing at a lab (MrGman at CPF) we discovered that the 1A Thrunite XP-G R5 only makes 190~260 real Out the front lumens.:(

The great news is that since, then Thrunite released a 1.5A P60 drop-in upgrade. I tested both the 3 mode and single mode for real out the front lumens, not paper math or specsheet mumbo jumbo, but real lumens my eyses and your will see.

The new 1.5A Thrunite results are here:

Sooner or later the battery is going to need replacing. Is this rechargeable battery something we can order from surefire or ??? Where can we get one when the time comes? Model # or style?

Surefire doesn't have a rechargeable Li Ion battery, they use Ni Cads with a long battery that needs a extension in the light making them longer. Anyway, the maximum amount they can get with a rechargeable is 60 lumens.
Two 123's batteries provide 120 lumens in their weapon light models but at the cost of $4 for 20 minutes run time.

My battery provide two hours at 345 lumens
There are several batteries available that can power this modification
One of the best is:

AW 18650 model protected
Bug Out Gear have them
or I can provide them.

There are others of the same size.
The batteries I use are protected by a chip in the tail, they are protected against overcharge, overdischarge, and shock.
They are also thermally proteceted.
The high current of these batteries make the light brighter.

If you are not interested in the rechargeable system, I provide the light with two 123's batteries.
In that configuration the light is $135 (With curly cord pressure switch and Quick Detach lever mount)

Preacher,
I have had mine for a couple months now and all I can say is AMAZING little torch. I have lit up the night on many occasions and it still makes me chuckle at how much light this thing throws out. Still on the original charge also!

All my buddies are saving up for one, they are very jealous of my artificial-hand-held-sun.

Buy with confidence, Juan is a good man (and a helluva light maker).

Is the 345 lumen lamp still available?

watchmaker

The light is available with a straight 300 lumens lamp or a 5 function 300 lumens lamp.

The 345 lumens lamp is out of stock for now, I will post when I can get more.
However the 300 lumens lamp is a s good in the flood department and throws even farther than the 345.

For weapon use I recommend the 300 lumens straight lamp (one function)

For flashlight use the 300 lumens lamp with 5 function is great, as it lower setting 40 lumens, gives 9 hours or run time.

I don't but Maglite have a 3 watt LED "bulb" that replace the original
Also Nite-Ezy does the same thing.

Also the new Maglite LED is provided with a Rebel emitter that is more powerful than the 3 watt.

The battery life is 2,000 hours (it can be recharged 1,000 times) after that, a new battery will cost $23 shipped.

If you were to use the Surefire 200 lumens light for 2,000 hours you will spend $36,000 in batteries.

Stop wasting money in expensive 123’s and e-mail me for the tactical weapon conversion.
And it’s shorter and lighter too.

Sorry if I missed this in the thread, but what "size" batteries are your rechargeable ones?

trying to see if they can be used for anything else or only the light

Also, what diameter is the bezel?

Also, what diameter is the bezel?

Lithium Ion 18mm by 65mm, protected computer batteries. Protected by a chip in the tail against overcharge, overdischarge, short and also thermal protection.

I have been using a shorter version in another light I make, (for six years) called the Bear Cub, I never had a return.

You can use them for other applications.

The head is 1.25" in diameter, all Surefires filters, diffusers, IR etc will fit.
Surefire holsters also fit my light.

Thank you for your interest, e-mail me for more information

And it’s shorter and lighter too.

hey juan , quick question for yah

the battery your selling , can you overcharge / over-discharge ?

They are protected by a computer chip embebed in the tail, the chip will cut off if the battery is over-charged, overdischarged, shorted or exposed to too much heat (thermal protection)

These are the best batteries in the market, A few years ago there were some batteries inside computers that catched fire, but these were NOT protected.

Protected batteries are used now in phones and nobody have problems with them

The batteries I use have a very low self discharge of 5% per month, so if not used the charge will last several months.
They can be fully charged at any time, no memory effect and no lost of capacity.

I bought a glossy black 350 lumens light. A high quality product that does what it says it will for a very good price and that it is rechargeable makes it all the better. Very bright, strong light. The seller is prompt, professional and fast. Two big thumbs up.

If you want to mount it on a sporting rifle, I have clamp on Picatinny rails for the barrel, or the scope, also clamps on Picatinny rails for the magazine tube in the shotgun or the barrel, just let me know what you need and in what weapon is going to be mounted.

Cheers

No yet, the pistol light market is well represented, when I do, it will be with something revolutionary, well above lumens output to what is offered now.

how long will the battery hold a charge during storage?

Thank you

Several months, these are Lithium Ion batteries, which have a self discharge of 5% per month.

So after 5 months you still have 75% of the charge available.

As these batteries have no memory, they can be recharged at any time during discharge, they will come back to full 100% charge.

Police officers that use the light every night, like to recharge them, so the next shift is started with a fully charged battery.

You cannot do that with primary 123's unless you are willing to dump expensive half used batteries.

They are not marked, got them at a gun show. They are similar to the Daniel Defense' $69 mount
