I am selling direct to the purchaser (Does not need a FFL) a Colt 1851 Navy Fourth Model in 36 Cal. The serial number is #200XXX. I am no Colt expert, as I can tell the Wedge may not be original, but it looks like its period correct. Not a new part. The Wedge Screw appears to be the only other missing item.
The bore is clean and free of rust. The rifling is all there, and of course there is pitting in the bore. Light in most areas, with a couple areas pitted more. You can easily see the rifling in the bore. The bolt can allow for the cylinder to over turn slightly. Hard cocking will allow the cylinder to over index at times. If you dont press the hammer agrresively to the rear, then it will index properly. I dont know if that info is importanty, as I couldnt see anyone actually wanting to fire this. The nipples are clear, and none of the srews are rusted. All the screws are in excellent shape.
Its my sense due to the engagement of the hammer to the cylinder, that this will fire anyways. If out of index, it wont fire. It positively locks to fire the cylinder contents, and I see little danger of that happening without a positive lock. It will positively lock.
There is slight play between the frame and and the barrel assembly.

i spent several hours researching what this is, and the model. I believe I have the proper info in this thread. Let me know if I am wrong.

Blue Book lists this worth in 10% condition for $1000.00. There is way more finish on this then that.
I am asking for $800.00. I looked through the threads here, and I havent ever seen one listed this old, for this little amount. I am not saying there never has been one, just I didnt find it.

Hopefully my Itrader will help establish that I am genuine, and will not represent anything as something it is not.

Ask me any questions.
