Is there something available for the M1A like the bullet button for the AR to fix the magazine?

Buy an extra mag release. then install that one and cut if flush with the receiver.

1st question...Why? I'm assuming you are going to get a pistol grip stock.

Option 1: What The DRis suggested.

Option 2: Buy a new trigger group and cut the mag release off. This way if you ever want to convert it back, or shoot out of state, just swap trigger groups. Trigger groups from SA rifles (non-USGI) can be found for pretty cheap.

Option 3: (Cheapest way) You could also drill a tap small hole in the mag release and then insert a screw so the screw touches the magazine preventing the mag release from being depressed. Downside is, you have to always load from the top. Don't ever remove the screw while at the range.

I'm guessing that mag release is going to be harder than woodpecker lips. Cutting/Drilling is not going to be simple.
