I also own a Savage Lee Enfield, what a great rifle to own. Good Luck with your sale.

that looks like a nice Savage Enfield.

Can you look, and tell whether or not the bolt serial number matches the rifle serial number?

Is this C&R cash and carry? Sorry for asking, but am confused about age vs. listed rifles.
Thanks

I talked to a local gun dealer and I think the buyer has to go through a back ground check at a cost of $30

Incorrect. Dealers don't know squat about gun laws other than insisting everything (even a flintlock musket dating from 1768) must go through an FFL.

If it was made [esp. for a military force] over 50 years ago- you can "cash & carry" it. No FFL, No background check, No paperwork whatsoever...

HOWEVER it's your prerogative to sell it that way. If you want to 'cover' yourself PURELY based on the fact that you don't trust the background of the person you're selling it to, then you can if you desire...

[Edit] Source of my info: I've done it HUNDREDS of times.

[Edit 2] Oh yeah- good luck selling it- looks like a mighty fine rifle!

Thanks for the info CALIF gun laws are sometimes not very clear. Its like the DMV ask the same question to 10 people and get 10 different answers to the same question. THANK YOU GUYS for the right info...
