Why did Magpul design their lower with a fence below the mag catch?

Originally, I believe, to incorporate an ambi magazine release. Again, IMHO.

I see that on one of those pics, the ambi mag release sits flush with the fense. Thx! But like Richie Caketown said, no BAD lever lol.

Maybe its for better finger placement , kinda one of those little features .... kinda like grooves in the front of magwells

Would this lower even be legal here in PRK with an ambi mag release? Even with a BB you can still drop mags with your left hand. I suppose it'd be legal with a rimfire upper.

Lowers by themselves are not illegal unless they are listed and even then there are arguments to be made that a stripped lower is not a named "rifle."

As for an assembled rifle with no BB, you could go featureless or rimfire.....

I would say the fence is to prevent the ambi mag release from being pressed when you sling the weapon.

you can install a normal mag release so I presume a BB would be fine as well, the OP picture for example.

That is a MOE "plus" grip. Think MOE grip with rubber coating. They are set to be released sometime this year.
