Seriously, but I did pick up a SCAR for less than $2700.

Perhaps. For some reason I feel like what happened to the SCAR isn't going to happen to the ACR, or at least to a lesser extent. We'll see when it comes out.

As for the ACR, I'm guess the same thing happened that always seems to happen: they just missed their target date. I seem to recall the same thing happening with the SCAR, and one day you just started to see them on GB.

It already did lol. It was supposed to have a ballpark figure of $1500, but now its basic price is $2700 with the upgraded one being 3000. Don't be surprised when it has a more inflated price either when it hits the market.

Heard that one before

The Bushmaster ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) will initially be offered in 5.56 NATO, available for law enforcement and civilian purchase second quarter 2008. This release will be followed by military ACR versions in the 3rd quarter of 2008.

I know, I'm not shooting the messanger, you provided me with more info than Bushmaster. They have been stringing people along for 2 years. Then they set up that countdown timer and...nothing. They didn't even have the guts to let people down again, it took someone calling their customer service to find out if it even came out.

First of all, I heard that Robinson Arms was suing Bushmaster (I guess over the piston system) and that's what is holding it up...remember, that's just what I heard. Also, if I do recall from the youtube video the standard ships March 1st and the enhanced May 1st (just in time for my b-day).

Now, the enhanced version will never be available in CA because of the overall length issue. Which means, if you want a folding stock you'll have to buy a standard, wait for the 18in barrel to come out and then buy the folding stock separately.

Just build an AR with every modification you could ever want instead.

My guess is it's the Robinson Arms lawsuit holding things up as well.

Don't discount the enhanced version being excluded from CA sales. I'm sure that someone in CA will want one badly enough to either pin the folding stock or replace the stock entirely with the fixed version.

Also - and this has been bugging me ever since you joined - What's up with your name, dude? So, you're the "good" Knight, and that makes me what exactly?

Robinson is suing for the bolt catch/release system that Magpul flat out stole.

Of course we will get the enhanced ACR in CA.

The enhanced version will be available in CA. How do you think people get their Krinks? Simple stock pin jobs work well. The pin job I did on my 74U allowed me to get around that law easy. :) Also, its not hard to find a dealer willing to transfer a gun in parts.

Thats what they are suing over? I thought it was a phrase they were using to describe the gun :/.............

Okay, but why not then just buy a standard version and just add an AAC flash hider... I'll put it this way: why pay 3k for the enhanced just to buy a fixed stock for probably $200+ (knowing bushmaster), when you could just pay 2600 and buy a $60 AAC, Vortex, or whatever (2660<3000). Unless you think the rail hand guard is worth $340?

...and I got my screen name from watching 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (underrated Bond film btw).

The whole ACR debacle through me for a loop when I found out how much they were going to charge for it. Two days ago I was also snooping around to find out if it was out in the wild. Seems its very quiet out there. A couple rumblings like this thread about empty promises, and more delays, but nothing special. Of course I did hear it will be going for $2200 for the basic; so prices seem to be dropping.

I don't think I could ever spend $3000 for that rifle and $2200 is still a lot for a basic.

I just wrote it off till it comes down in price, if it doesn't, then I will just admire it from a distance forever. Sad really; looked really promising. I just hope it comes down in price and doesn't disappear like the M96.

according to a post on the acr forums (so take it with a grain of salt):

The standard fixed stock ACR dealer price is : $2000

hopefully that is true. i for one, am anticipating on getting an enhanced acr sometime later this year if all goes well with it.

that makes two of use, and the SCAR-H. But for the kind of money they want for those rifles I would get a 700 in 300wm and a high end scope and blow **** up at 1k + yards.

No way. Look at how much of a law abiding person you have to be in order to do EBRs in Cali. The long list of laws that calgunners have to preach to keep people in the green. You probably have to be lawful nuetral. I like to consider myself lawful evil but then again thats mostly what our polititians are. :D
