I just traded a Double Star stipped lower straight across the board for a CMS Engine Service FAB-10. Have I lost my mind? I think I might be looking for one more FAB-10 too, but I have to give Gunner1 first dibs. Time to e-mail him. What do you think about my mental process? Have I lost my mind?

Wes I think that either you're doing an excellent job with your first Trolling or your collection is now comparable to Gunner1's collection and the only way to improve its variety is by adding the FAB10 because it's now the rarest Cali legal lower :D!

PS expect to hear from me this week because I need to purchase a Stag Arms flat top carbine rifle kit.

I think you are perfectly fine! Relax and enjoy your Fab! Who cares about what other people think about you! :)

BTW would you like to trade and old Colt M-16 Airsoft rifle for a DS receiver?:D

A stripped lower worth $99 (MSRP)...

A FAB-10 Rifle worth $1000?

That's a pretty good trade!!!

Depends - if it's somehow legal to do that 50cal thing on the fab10, then by all means you haven't lost your mind at all!

Wes your crazy as a loon, But my fab 10 is heading your way.:D

Gunner

And guys my collection is no where near complete. Just because I have 11 lowers and an ornamental Vulcan CF doesn't make me a bad person does it???
Besides with my upcoming change in employment I doubt I will be buying much for a while.

Hey, if you've got a 1941 Johnson, I've got a nice, newer M1A for trade! :p

He already has a FAB-10 that he got before the deadline...I suspect that he will register that one as a .50 BMG. The other one is most likely a "replacement".

So true Blacklisted, so true. I figure for $25 it is worth registering even if I never build it up. So I need another FAB-10 just for the heck of it if I want to go shoot squirrels or coyotes and don't want to deal with the AW rules of transportation.

Now here is where this all gets decidingly sick. I just got another FAB-10 in trade again today! I can't say what I traded it for, but lets just say it was a LMT bolt assembly. That brings me up to three FAB-10s!

Honestly I am not nuts, I use the FAB-10s as my store models. If I take off list lowers and use those as floor models for my uppers and optics, an agent comes in and unscrews the Mag-Lok kit and says, "Look what I just found!" No thanks. I can display these things as FAB-10s all I want and don't have to worry about it. Now I can take my original FAB-10 home and register it and use the two new FAB-10s as "hangers" for my uppers. :D

Anyone else have any FAB-10s they want to unload?

A week ago I would have said yes, but now the idea of registering it as a .50 sounds good, even if it never gets finished.

And if you catch him doing that on video, you can say "Look who just created an illegal AW!"

Regardless, it sounds like you found a cheap way of getting some FAB10s. Definitely a win-win all around (except for Shoeless Ventures, that is).

Now thats my LMT bolt assembly there Wes. It was either trade it to you for the much needed bolt assembly or use it as a hood ornament for my truck.
On second thought I havent shipped it out yet:rolleyes:
I could replace that stupid looking Ram ornament with a FAB10 lower, what an idea.

Nah, I need the bolt assembly more than a 13th receiver. the lower will go out tomorrow. After getting my 11 off list lowers and the Ornamental Vulcan CF the Fab10 just makes me sick to look at.

Gunner

Also Wes the verdict is still not in yet on your "I am not nuts" statement:p

No way to do the 50 Cal on a Fab-10, as you can not register the Fab as an AW...

If you were to own an AW on the other hand...

Actually . . .

I posted this in another thread. This was a response (not to me) from a field rep about adding a .50 upper to a FAB10.

That last part is a little misleading. As long as you had posession of a completely functional and serialized lower prior to 01/01/05, you can register it as a .50 by April of this year. You do not need to have the complete rifle built despite what the letter says.

That was why there was a mad rush in December '04 (deja-vu!) for DPMS single-shot lowers/Shadetree Armory/Serbu and others to get receivers in hands by the 12/31/04 deadline.

I actually had a lower express ordered 12/29/04, and it was delivered 12/31/04. I have printouts of the tracking to prove it! :D

Some of the manafacturers treated the receiver as a "down payment" towards the rest of the rifle at a later point in time.

If you already have a reg'ed AW, you do not need a seperate .50 reg as they fall under the guise of AWs.

BUT, if you have a FAB10, DPMS single-shot, or some other lower, you need to register it by April 30th if you are going to do the .50 thang.

Thanks... I was (incorrectly) assuming that you had not purchased the Fab in 2005...

A Fab-10 pruchased in 06, would not meet possession requirements (I think... 50 bmg IS NOT my specialty).

True, you either had it before 2005 or you didn't. I had mine before 2005. Now I have two more to take its place? Anyone want to trade us a third??? HA HA HA HA HA

Ted you are nuts! I thought I was nuts. Heck the AR15plus.com people are nuts. $189 for a non firing lower! Why don't I buy a Vulcan carbon fiber lower for $70 and then seal off the mag well myself somehow? After seeing the AR15plus.com fixed mag kit, this thing just confirms to me how crazy they are.

I am still interested in buying some FAB-10s or trading them for parts or off-list lowers. I can use them for my store as floor models for uppers, buttsocks, and trigger groups. Please e-mail me if you are interested. guns@tenpercentfirearms.com
