When you start the auction at $1, you will get a lot of attention. That's a package deal and looks to be decent.

Crap! I confused that scope with a US Optics scope. Nevermind. People sometimes get really caught up in an auction and really have to win.

How is it a decent deal? I have been trying to sell ten times a rifle.http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=158965028 For 2500.00 bucks!!! With no luck. Now I think I will keep it.

They communicate well and took nice photos. Somebody liked it enough to pay a high price. Good for the seller!

Yep.
The people that bid it up did not know the individual component costs or do their research...

It would probably help if you didn't list it in the AIR RIFLE category.

I find it a bit weird..... Look at how many bids are there. They ALL did not know what they were doing????

Why not just setup the auction like the one cited in the OP and start the bidding at $1 to let people bid the price up. Gunbroker is like eBay - both sites have achieved "critical mass" so you should be able to get "market price or better" for any given item -- provided you get enough eyeballs. The low initial price will get you the eyeballs.

I've never seen an LTR in .308 sell for under $900. Do you have a source? I'm not trying to contradict you, just curious on where you came up with that price?

After looking over your ad for your gun, I would say it's worth around $1800. Again, this is just my opinion. The other gun was way overpriced.

When I bought mine from Nick's gun shop in Lodi i paid 750 for a new one. 2002 or 2003. Maybe they've gone up since then due to inflation or popularity. To me they're still only a 750 dollar gun.

***Just checked my receipt**** 759.00 minus tax and dros. So I was close on my estimate.

Ok. 1800.00.......

Based on what? Compare to what?

ANY model , clean , used , Remington .308 with ANY decent rings and ANY decent scope and a HR Bipod will sell for a 1000.00 ALL DAY LONG.

If You got a REALLY good deal on used LTR ( 700.00) , Mark 4 base and Rings ( 150.00), HR Bipod ( 50.00) and a REALLY minty Older Leupold Mark 4 ( 10 power fixed) 800.00 would put You into the gun about 1700.00........ My rifle is AT LEAST THAT and a lot more. Right? I use this to establish a BASE price on my gun.

No.
It is exactly that, not a lot more.
You might do better to part your gun out as there are more people looking for parts than there are people looking for complete guns.

I'd say keep it and go shoot it.
It looks like a nice gun.

While it's a nice gun/setup, it's a used gun/setup. Let's not sell it at the same price you paid for cause it'll just sit as you know. We all like to think our stuff don't stink but be realistic, esp. in this market.

Obviously the person who won the auction is going to have a serious second-thought/ regret when they find out how much cheaper they could have bought it for.....

'

I feel that if I can't NET 2000.00 with an easy sale , I just keep it. OR get a good trade. I don't NEED to sell it . It just sits there with my other 308's.
