Thinking about getting a saiga in 7.62x39. Anyone have any experience with one of these russian rifles? Also will they eat up the steel case ammo?

They eat up anything you feed it including the steel cased. Accuracy is dependent on you of course, but they are great guns and very reliable.

Fella, there's an entire website and forum devoted to them: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showforum=5

And yeah, you can't beat it for the price. They're new, Russian-made, chrome-lined barrels, and there are a ton of aftermarket stuff.
Get the .223, too!

They are great, and a blast to shoot!! You also have the choice to do the conversion back to original AK pistol grip and trigger location.

saiga 7.62 is the best

i didnt want to get them mainly because of cosmetics and i dont have the extra time/skill/money to go through the process of converting to look like a real AK

but functionally its every bit the same as an AK

You are selling yourself short, it's easy to do with nothing more than a cordless drill, a few handtools, and your USA parts.

Get one.

It's very accurate for what it is, very robust.

The only thing stopping me from getting one is the lack of threads for a 74 style muzzle brake. :43:

what's not to love?
It's a Kalashnikov. albeit in civilian garb. (Easily changed/converted)
Eats anything. (When it is Clean or dirty) and functions flawlessly.

Don't forget to pick up a scope mount for the side rail.:D
