I have 4 1911s, a SW 1911 with a firing pin safety system ( do not know its name), a Kimber Raptor with Schwartz system and 2 Les Baers with no safety.
I did a search but could not establish a list of 1911 manufactures that imply firing pin block, I know of Colt, Kimber, SW, Springfield that have FP block.
For me, it is OK to have those blocks if they are functioning, but like any machines, why have more mechanism that is not support of the main function of that machine? And those extra will fail one day.
So better not to have a FP blocking system :), please help with the list. Please do not say use SEARCH BUTTON. Who like the FP safety system are welcome to keep their side.

Best regards.

As I understand it the Springfields do not use a fireing pin block, but they have a titanium firingpin (light) and a heavy spring to pass the drop test.

Kimber SIS does not have a firing pin safety IIRC; SIS members did not want it.

Springfield has no fp block but has the ILS which can be removed pretty easily. I don't think the Professional has the ILS.

Ed Brown, Wilson, Les Baer, Nighthawk don't have FP safeties.

As far as I know all the kimbers on the DOJ list have a FP safety.

SIS is also not CA Approved. My RIA doesnt nor does my SA Champion.

your best buys would be a Springfield or a Dan Wesson...neither have a FPS

the FPBs is the reason why I refuse to buy Colts and Kimbers.

Tiko, you're pretty much correct. For CA approved guns we have

No FPS:
Les Baer
Ed Brown
Nighthawk
Wilson Combat
Dan Wesson
Springfield Custom Shop (PRO, Custom Carry)
Springfield Armory production 1911s (ILS in MSH can be swapped out)
Rock Island Armory

Swartz Safety:
Kimber
Smith Wesson

Series 80:
Colt NRM Government/Commander/XSE
SIG Sauer
Para Ordnance

Colt-45

Find pre series 80 Colt's
All the ones 80 and after have them.

Try a series 70 Colt or pre 70.

Thank you Richard and all of you, now I have the list :)
Still question about SW 1911 Performance Center, they still have FPB like the Non-Performance? I know that sholling has a SW PC, he should know about it.

I am not sure if we are really chasing reliability here. Are there documented cases of FPS failing?
The most RELIABLE handgun in the world: Glock; has a FPS btw.

Whoa! Don't let the revolver guys see that one! :p

Anyways, I always understood it as a trigger pull issue. Schwartz & Series 80 safeties mess with one of the aspects people prize most about their 1911's: the glass rod trigger break.
