i would like to say im new to calguns and i have a question. i am going to start building my first Ar very soon and i have this question i am getting a daniel defense upper with barell twist 1/7 16 inch chambered in 5.56 will i be able to run 223 ammo thru it or will it damage the complete upper?

You GTG Bill, 223 in 556 is ok, 556 in 223.....No Bueno, 556 is loaded to a higher pressure.

Shoot all the 223 ammo you have. But since you have the 1/7 twist you can also utilize the heavier grain bullets the 556 offers as well.

Welcome, shoot up all your 223 and heavier 556 especially with that 1/7 twist, post some pics when done,

thanks i just wanted to build a nice lil AR since budgeting allows it why not

welcome! .223 ammo in 5.56 chamber is GTG. but 5.56 ammo in .223 chamber is a no-go.

The book of the AR15 says that the head pressures on 5.56 can be up to 15,000 psi higher than .223
