View Full Version : Custom 10/22's (heavily modified)

How about some pics & specifics of your Custom 10/22's.
I've seen a few pics of some of your moded 10/22's. I got heavily involved with the Ultimate 10/22 threads at RimfireCentral, and it cost me some serious cash. But, I built a beautiful (IMO) rifle that, I think, pushes my 10/22 to it's full potential.
My 10/22 has no (none except rotary magazines) original Ruger parts left. Matter of fact, when I was finished modding mine, I built another with the extra parts & gave it to my son.

Custom 10/22 modifications:
Volquartsen SuperLite receiver w/ VQ buffer, pins, & integral scope mount
Fajen Laminated Target stock w/VQ Bedding Kit
Green Mountain 20" blued Barrel
Volquartsen TG2000 Trigger Group
Volquartsen Machined Bolt
Volquartsen Compensator
Warne Maxima QD rings
Mueller 8.5-25x44 Tactical scope

its no where near as dialed as your 10/22
but i have spent some money on this lil guy

clark trigger upgrade in the stock trigger housing
auto bolt release.
polished and radiused bolt ( zodiac eng )
changed the charging handle out
tacsol mag release.
tacsol 16.5 threaded barrel.
camo on the stock, stock. and sanded it out to fit the bull barrel.

CH47 that's one of the, if not the nicest Ruger 10/22 I've ever seen!

The only other stock I like as much or maybe a hair more than yours in this one.

I would love to mod mine up similar to what you did, but I know how much that would cost and it's a LOT. Awesome .22 you have!

Thanks all,

As I mentioned, this rifle was the result of being trapped in the Ultimate 10/22 catagory, at RimfireCentral. I love this rifle & I've probably put more time and money into her than about any other firearm I own.
I'll probably never purchase another 10/22 - my wife has one, it's absolutely bone stock. She won't let me touch it. I don't get people who don't/won't hot-rod their stuff.

This inspired me.

I went and ordered a thumbhole stock, almost exactlly like yours (same coffee color) and an 18" stainless non fluted bull barrel, as well as nicer Weaver rail and larger (4 bolts per ring) rings than what I'm using now.

Only cost me $330 total, not including the 40mm 4-12 power Bushnell I stole off my $$$ air rifle. Since it's a nicer scope than the Bushnell currently on my 10/22 and I never shoot the air rifle, I swapped 'em out for one another. The nicer one has an adjustable objective lens.

Wow what a difference in feel and weight. Feels like it weights twice as much now, awesome. Wasn't sure how I would like the stainless barrel with everything else being black but it works. Still think a 20" might have looked better but at least I didn't have to rearange my safe this way.

Installed the 18" stainless barrel and thumbhole stock and the scope rings and base. Freaking barrel looks like a .12 gauge. It now feels like a rifle and not a BB gun and looks sooo much nicer than stock. I'll put up some pics probablly someplace else because I don't consider mine to be heavily modified but can't wait to shoot this thing now. Only other thing I might want to do to it is swap out for a nicer/longer bolt lever.

Wow another pic of one of my guns on baby blue sheets how exciting. Maybe someday I will take some proper outside pics.
