Hey, new member here. I'm not a huge fan of forums but I can give it another go.

Just bought my first handgun a stainless steel 1911 GI 45. Springfield Armory.

I have small hands and maybe because I'm 5'3" I've had a hard time finding the right gun. It really came down to the trigger as some triggers were too extended for me. It's kinda embarrassing but as long as I'm taking advantage of the 2nd Amendment, I couldn't be more excited. In the end it only ment that the Desert Eagle wasn't ment to be.

I'm already considering my next purchase to be a .22 Ruger III pistol for warming up on the range, especially since ammo is dirt cheap.

I should beable to pick up my handgun the second week of march so until then I'm going to learn more about ammo and maybe find someone on here to help me out. I sure want to prevent any damage that can be avoided like a maintenance check before I fire it for the first time. I'm not sure how to do that. :)

welcome to calguns. you can get a .22lr conversion kit for your 1911 so that you can warm up with your primary weapon and do some dirt cheap training with it. presentation and the first shot are going to be the same with a .22 and a .45 so .22 conversion kits are great for practicing that quick defensive shot without spending big $$$ on ammo. plus, a 1911 in .22lr is just fun!!!!!

great gun choice too!
