Are there any issues with carrying on a CA university campus? (w/ CCW of course) I know it is legal according to both state and federal law but what I'm worried about is if the school itself can do anything to you if you get "made". Could they give you the boot if somebody saw the gun and reported it?

A lot of universities have policies regarding firearm possession. I'm pretty sure at a university like San Francisco State University, regardless of CCW or not, you will receive disciplinary action. Don't quote me though, I may be wrong.

I do not know of any universities that permit firearms on campus (unless maybe they have a rifle team, which would be highly regulated).

For UC and Cal State schools, you could probably find the info online easy enough.
For private universities, I suppose it may vary from one to another.

UC post signs on the perimeter indicating that no farmarm may be allowed on campus grounds
at my school you need to keep firearms at the police station. Cant carry anything, not even a knife.

State law specifies that you can carry on school grounds. If you are a student, they can probably expell you for it. If you are not a student, you are breaking no laws.
The key is concealed means concealed. The only way they should know you are carrying is if you stop a life-endangering threat. At that point, who cares about school?

Yes, I'm at a UC, and you can't even keep a firearm on campus property, which also includes campus owned appartments.
...of course I live off campus though. =)

You might want to finish 626. Specifically read letter l that states(l) This section does not apply to a duly appointed peace officer
as defined in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of
Part 2, a full-time paid peace officer of another state or the
federal government who is carrying out official duties while in
California, any person summoned by any of these officers to assist in
making arrests or preserving the peace while he or she is actually
engaged in assisting the officer, a member of the military forces of
this state or of the United States who is engaged in the performance
of his or her duties, a person holding a valid license to carry the
firearm pursuant to Article 3 (commencing with Section 12050) of
Chapter 1 of Title 2 of Part 4, or an armored vehicle guard, engaged
in the performance of his or her duties, as defined in subdivision
(e) of Section 7521 of the Business and Professions Code.12050 is a permit to carry a concealed weapon. I don't need the Universities permission for crap.

I've poked around my school's website quite a bit looking for info but couldn't find any. If you know of somewhere this is addressed I'd appreciate a link.
Like I said I'm not concerned about legality as it is 100% legal. (even if signs are posted actually- but they're not) It would just be a major PITA to get expelled and have to finish somewhere else. Just trying to weigh risk vs. benefit.

Again, concealed means concealed. I went to a private college for the last two years of my life and I was armed every single time I went on campus with the exception of once. They never knew a thing.

Don't they have to let you on campus to take one? :D

well, I go to UCM, and I am not allowed to keep firearms on campus (I live on campus). Which makes me wonder what I am going to do once these lowers are listed O_o Oh well, Ill figure something out. Actually, does any one know if it has to be the head honcho of a school that has to allow it, or can the campus PD allow you to keep a firearm (talking stripped lower for now) with you? I ask because while I dont know many of the admins, I work right across the hall from the PD office, and am friends with many of them.

A valid CCW permit trumps everything. That, or else a note from the president of the University stating that you have his permission to carry.

Nowhere to store your gun? Rent a bank safe deposit box and store the receiver there. The rest of the gun is not a firearm, just parts.

It doesn't matter whether they are listed, assembled with uppers, having hammer and trigger installed or not, the lowers are always firearms.

Being listed just makes it worse - since they are assault weapons by name, and there are specific authorized places where you can use/possess AWs and/or transport to/from.
Remember that illegal transport or possession of an AW in an unauthorized place - even if registered - can be a worse charge than simple unreg'd AW possession.
As of right now, you should be treating off-list lowers as AWs because you don't know when the hammer will drop. 12280(g) protects against charges of unreg'd AW possession when the 90 day reg window is open, but it offers no protection for transport issues, possession-at-wrong-place issues, etc.

Another route could be to store it at a local Gun store if they rent lockers... Prolly safe as the bank... without you technically bringing a Rifle into a bank :D

I guess what I meant is that when they are just regular semi auto rifles, I can store them in a bank or something. But I dont know what the legalities of that are for AWs.

one may not need the University's permission to pack a pistol, but people should bear in mind that CCWs apply only to concealable weapons. a long gun will be different. that's right, it could be legal to carry a .50 AE desert eagle to your local sensitivity training class at UCPC, but keep a 10/22 in off-campus family student housing and you might be in trouble. go figure.
