Well, after selling that Security Six last week, I couldn't resist going and buying my first CCW pistol, my first .40, and my first Glock. I sprung for the G27 without ever having shot it (although I've shot it's bigger brothers), and I really hope I'm not disappointed. Now I just have to wait 10 days, and find some ammo! Any suggestions on carrying this bad boy once I get my permit?

What do most folks run ammo wise through these for self defense? What about magazine setups, etc? I'm looking for ideas on summertime concealment (i.e. not wearing big jacket, etc.)

I like Federal HST, which is a "law enforcement" ammo that is available through several online vendors. It has plenty of energy, penetrates well, and the bullet expands to about twice its original diameter. In .40 caliber it is available in 155, 165 and 180 grain weights. I think any of these weights will work just fine. Here is the company website:

The Glock 27 is small enough that you could probably carry it in appendix position in a Comp-Tac kydex IWB holster called the "Two O'Clock" model. The gun on the left below is a Glock 27 in a Comp-Tac Two O'Clock holster:

I have a King Cobra to suit my .357 needs, and I have nothing concealable, so it was a means to an end. Besides, I can get .40 a whole lot more readily than .357 ammo!
