Are either of these a good deal? I want a 9mm race gun for steel madness. I have no clue what they cost. I have no clue about who makes them. I am sure someone on the board has opinions on this matter. Any help is appreciated

Now are you shooting "steel madness" or "steel challenge". There's a DISTINCT difference. That will dictate on whether or not the first gun is useful to you. It's NOT a high capacity gun. It is still a single stack frame. I'm not a brand name guy, all I care about is 1) does it run reliably 2) is it designed for the type of shooting I'll be doing.

The second gun is built by JoJo and crew. It's an OPEN gun for USPSA type matches. If you were to commission JVD, it would probably cost you 3-4000 bucks. I've seen used Open guns go anywhere from $2000-3000 dollars.

Personally, I dont see anything special about the first gun. It's been modded here and there, but beyond that.. I dont see the appeal. It's a single stack 9mm gun. You can take a kimber or Springfield and do the same mods to it.

If it's built by Will Ohara it will run flawlessly.

Bubba,

My advise to you is, Go to Rahaguees early morning on a Saturday, when everyone is signing in for the IPSC match. Many Race guns are sold there. You can even try them out.

This first gun is designed for Steel Challenge with Will's comp. It will run sub-minor loads but the capacity is restricted by the single stack frame.

The second gun is built by Jojo. Although the post says 9major I do believe it's Jojo's steel gun because of the fluted barrel and lightening on the slide. This gun should run 130-140pf great and IMO it's a great gun for Steel Madness if the price is not an issue.

Another way will be finding a STI/SV frame and send it to a good gunsmith to build a gun. Waiting time might be longer than you like but it can be built to what will fit you the best.

Here are some beautiful creations by Johnny Lim of Limcat. Jojo's Compare! Don't ask me on pricing though. It will be on the high side.

Gotta love Jojo's IPSC modified build (granted built for international rules but it's badass!)
