But, in red state/blue state jargon just how blue is Cali really? Geographically it's actually pretty red. In terms of counties as individual entities (too bad they can't have some sovereignty from Sac's tyranny) it is also largely red. I submit the map below for your consideration. *Please note that in the 2nd map the colors are transposed such with the democrats being assigned their more appropriate color, red. Red is historically the communist standard and as the dems seem to want to turn our great state into an amalgam of cuba and communist east germany it seems particularly appropriate.*

You know, until people can actually find it within themselves to separate "liberal" from "democrat", they're never going to understand this.
Or change it.

Don't ya know the whole state is ruled by San Fransicko and Los Angeles? That map is deceiving because you have to look at where the population is centered.

I came across these other political maps that offer insights into what we're up against.

The san fran area and los angeles is very liberal, and mainly democrat voters....
The small county at the bottom is imperial county, glamis california, very full of mexicans who tend to vote democrat and many many illegals down there..

Data on the recall I would not use to prove a point. There are a lot of factors other than just dem v repub during that election. Not to mention that land area has nothing to do with it, so you have to look at the numbers for each county rather than color.
If you want something better, I would go with Bush V Kerry or Bush V Gore. Here are those numbers.
You all posted 2004:
2004
John F. Kerry Democratic 6,737,355 54.4%
George W. Bush Republican 5,501,496 44.4%
2000
Al Gore DEM 5,861,203 53.5%
George W. Bush REP 4,567,429 41.7%
Either way, you have about 40 to 55 in favor of Dems, but sadly, after watching other props, that 40% is mostly made up of big government repubs. So much for the repub party of old. I would love to see some pro gun measures on the ballot some year so I can really laugh at just how democrat like CA republicans are.

I hate the electoral college system. It's an archiac system that needs to be done away with.

Judging from the way Bush has been running the White House, and all the support from lemmings nationwide, I'd say big government Repubs are the rule, not the exception.
Actually, it's been that way for a long time. The notion that the Republicans are the party of small government is one of the biggest deceptions of the last 50 years.

If I had it my way, less government is better. Less intrusion into our personal lives, less stupid laws. Oh well.
Illegals can't vote. If I remember correctly those counties are mostly agricultural peoples, who usually vote democrat.

I myself am in favor of having the conservative and liberal areas of California go their separate ways. That is why I propse the creation of Western California out of the liberal coastal counties. I figure if West Virginia can do it so can we.
In my attached image Western California would have a 9 to 1 Democratic registration advantage while California would have a narrow Republican registration advantage. Now I know my idea is very unpopular with Republicans whose homes would be on the wrong side of the dividing line but some sacrifices must be made in the name of the greater good.

Yeah right, than all the extreme left wingers will start jumping into California with their bs. I say we plant dynamite all along the border (the one that is drawn up there) for a massive split bomb.:D It would be great for me! I would be minutes away from the beach than.:p
