I keep finding these all over online but from what I've read, people are tellin me that having a 1911 shipped to ca right now is a huge PITA.

I'd also like to add that I'm not rich and would like the 1911 in 9mm to be decently priced. I'm looking to spend under $500 and have mainly been looking at the taurus clones.

You're looking at $1000 if you want a 9mm 1911.

Springfield Loaded, Springfield EMP or Kimber Stainless II.

That is indeed nicely priced. Someone just put a Springfield Armory 1911 9mm on consignment at On Target, with an pachmayr grip and is asking $1100...

As long as your FFL does not ask a lot of money to get this gun ship to you, get it. On the other hand, $500 for a 9mm is almost not possible, considering a new one.

Good catch and still available as of this writing.

In one of the many threads here, somebody mentioned the Fowler's had one in stock brand new. If it's the same price as six months ago when I was there, it would be ~$1,100 + tax + DROS.

if you want to go cheap and already have a stander 1911 setup, why not get your self a Marvel conversion?

the unit 2 is around 3-400. the unit 1 is around 4-500 all said and done.

That is pretty nice. That is lower than the current used market for one here in California. If it was the fixed novak sites, I might have busted out the credit card as I already have the target version.

EDIT: I personally prefer the advantage arms 22 conversions to the marvels.

I got my first one from On Target in Laguna Niguel around 2003 for about $700 out the door. It's the fixed sight version of the Springfield.

Try calling around and asking if anyone will order it for you. In the OC, I would have gone to the Huntington Beach Firing Line or Turner's to see if they'll special order one. When I was shopping around for one myself, I was told that Springfield only makes runs of those odd calibers once a year in February. If you want one, you should start calling soon.

I've read that the Springfields are better than the Kimbers because Kimber uses an improperly fitting .40 cal breech face

Man bids sold out. If o would have known I would have put it on layaway. That was an excellent price. A local shop near Fresno wants $ 962

I got my SA 9mm 1911 from these guys recently....

it's out of stock now, but it wasn't an issue to ship here. My FFL was easy, but on top of the fees, you have to pay tax on it once it's at the FFL dealer, even though it's out of state.

As for price, good luck finding a 9mm around $500. all the ones I've seen (if you can find them in stock) have been upwards of $1000.

If you can find one, I LOVE mine. shoots flawlessly-not a single problem. My Dad has same SA Loaded model and his is the same. He found his at Turners but it took a year to get one at the store.

Happy gun-shopping!

You can also buy a Rock Island in .38 Super then replace the barrel with a 9mm barrel (non-ramped). Some claim that the .38 Super magazine works fine but I would rather use Wilson 9mm mags.
9mm barrel prices run about $49 for a Roto 4M (Sarco) to $150+ for better quality brands.
