Hello All,

FINAL UPDATE 5/16:
The ammo run is now closed.
I will be following up with each participant individually in the next day or so.

UPDATE 5/10:
We still have room on the pallet, so get your orders in asap.
Delivery to San Jose should be either the last week of May or first week in June.

UPDATE 4/7:
Triple R Munitions has agreed to cover the tax for those that get their deposit in by May 1st, 2010.
It should be mentioned that the below prices are cash prices.
If credit card is to be used there is a 3% fee.

Here's how the program looks right now:

223 55gr per 1,000 rounds
Deposit in by 5/1/2010= $339

223 62gr per 1,000 rounds
Deposit in by 5/1/2010= $349

9mm 115gr per 1,000 rounds
Deposit in by 5/1/2010= $229

40s&w 165gr per 1,000 rounds
Deposit in by 5/1/2010= $269

45acp 230gr per 1,000 rounds
Deposit in by 5/1/2010= $338

6.8spc-
The question has been asked about including 6.8spc in the program.
Upon availability of brass, we are looking to include this in the program.
Initial investigation has us around the $800 per 1,000 rounds range.

We will need at least 5,000 rounds being ordered for us to go live with the offer. The details are being hammered out now, with brass availability being the key factor. If interested, please make it known.

UPDATE 4/1: Below you will find the delivered prices. These prices include sales tax and shipping.
Participants of this program will only be asked to provide a 50% deposit, with the remaining 50% charged just before we ship.

I have edited some of the below text, but will preserve the original text in one of my self bump posts in case anyone has any questions on the evolution of the program.
--------------------
We are hoping to have enough interest up here in Nor Cal to make it worthwhile to ship a pallet up here and not individually to each buyer. To further minimize shipping costs, this bulk ammo will be hand delivered by me in the South Bay. We’ll figure out a meeting point halfway between us. If a longer journey by me is needed, you can tip me with some ammo. ;-) Our hope is to keep the bottom-line cost to the shooter low enough so that there is enough interest that everyone benefits from shipping in bulk. If you are from Nor Cal, but outside the SF Bay Area, we can still work you into the program too. Since I am helping distribute locally up here, I will work with you to get you taken care of. If we cannot get enough to warrant a pallet load, then each purchase will be shipped individually, or held for a scheduled pick up if you happen to be traveling down to So Cal. Please feel free to ask any question you may have about the Nor Cal ammo run itself or about any of the ammo included in it. Triple R Munitions will be able to better answer ammo specific questions.

I saw the popularity of the previous ammo run of 223 that Triple R Munitions had and this program was born as a convenient cost effective way to have that for us in Nor Cal as well. Hopefully we can use the program as a template for future Nor Cal ammo runs and keep some ammo coming our way to feed our habits.

Please remember that these prices INCLUDE sales tax and shipping to me in the Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, San Jose area.
Also, if you are considering a large order, you may qualify for better pricing.

Program offerings:
223 Rem
Non-magnetic 55gr FMJBT projectile (2750 FPS out of a 16in barrell)
Once fired Lake City brass (WCC-09/LC-09/ some time mixed range)

If we get to the 5k point:
223 Rem
Non-magnetic 62gr FMJBT projectile
Once fired Lake City brass (WCC-09/LC-09/ some time mixed range)
$382 per 1,000 rounds

Note: If you want to use your own brass for the .223 reloads, the price will be $300 per 1,000 rounds
Also: If you want green tip penetrator ammo, inquire within.

Mixed range brass
$250 per 1000rds

This is fully sanctioned by Triple R Munitions and we are ready to start processing.

For the most part it's as simple as labelling the boxes with the appropriate warning sticker, declaring the hazardous material on the shipping papaerwork, and paying the extra hazmat fee.

Independently, meaning you pay for shipping straight to you, can happen whenever you want.
In bulk, we are hoping to at least hit the 20,000 round mark. This is more so to start getting into the weight that would flip the shipping to a freight carrier on a pallet. I don't know the magic number just yet but at some point it should cost the end user less in shipping costs to combine the shipping like this.

I hope the above makes sense as I stopped writing halfway through and picked back up again.

As of now I do not have a definitive answer, but here's a scenario to start with:
Lets assume you add 3k 223 and 1k in 45.
That will bring us up to 18k total rounds, across 11 people.
For easy math I will assume that 1k of 223 weighs the same as 1k of 45.
We will divide the shipping costs out to a price per 1k.
If you buy 4k worth of ammo you will pay 4x the divided out shipping cost.
My hope is that the more people that jump on this program, the cheaper shipping will be per person.

The real answer will actually be determined by the participants.
Everyone feel free to offer out a personal deadline or idea on when to have a "soft stop" of sorts. By soft I mean that we can take last minute orders but I'll get my shipping quote at that "soft stop" point and let you all know where we stand.

I'm excited to get this first round in motion, but I want to save us all money too. So please. Those of you interested, let me know what your timeframe is and we'll figure out a happy inbetween for everybody and get this rolling.

The next step from shipping quote will be that we will have an accurate out-the-door price per 1k of ammo and then we'll start locking in the orders.

This all sounds time consuming but it will actually flow pretty quickly once we get to the "soft stop" get shipping quote point.

PM or public. Either way, please let your voice be heard.

Sorry for the longwinded (almost) answer, GearHead.

You have been added to the list.
We will most likely just cut the 1,000 round price in half for you as we had only set pricing per 1,000. Not a big deal. As far as the program and getting this order high enough for a pallet, it would be best to go to 1,000 rounds each.

Monticore
03-08-2010, 8:54 AM
We are close to the initial magic number we had of 20,000 rounds total.
As of writing this we are at 16,000 rounds. I was hoping to hit 30,000.
As soon as we get to 20,000 I will start nailing down a current quote of shipping.

If you have been on the fence, please consider jumping in.

I understand your position. We want more people to get involved to help spread out the shipping costs. It's kind of a chicken or the egg scenario. Once we have enough "orders" to make freight shipping worthwhile, we'll get a shipping quote and lock in a price. Then once the price is set we may get more people off the fence.

Since new interest has slowed down a bit, I will most likely get a shipping quote early next week for what we have interest for now. If it would be more worthwhile to ship individually, we'll abandon the freight idea for this run. If it is still worthwhile to ship freight, I'll be able to set a more accurate delivered price.

I haven't started researching the individual shipments yet, but I would assume that each person would be hit with a Haz Mat fee where freight would be shared. When the time comes I will research all 3 shipping methods and take it to the group. Thanks for the idea, Greg.

This whole time I neglected to post this in the ammo section as well, so I will be doing so now. Maybe that will get enough interest to put us over the top.
Anyone know if that would be against the rules as the ammo is coming from Triple R and not a me? I'm assuming Private Ammo is personally owned as opposed to from a vendor.

Everyone interested can easily back out if the end result price is not what they wanted. We had another flurry of activity, and the more the merrier to dilute the shipping costs even more.

You may remember that the last Triple R Munitions program focused on .223 Remington 55gr FMJBT’s. If we can get to the 5,000 round point for 62gr’s, we can include this in the program as well. This Nor Cal ammo run is also open to 9mm, 40sw, and 45acp pistol calibers. Like I said, we want to pile on so that the shipping per person is minimized and fairly distributed, assuming we get to the pallet point.
Please feel free to ask any question you may have about the Nor Cal ammo run itself or about any of the ammo included in it. Triple R Munitions will be able to better answer ammo specific questions. Once we start getting a show of hands on what ammo is wanted and in what quantities, we will be able to solidify the program and start getting some more accurate pricing posted here with shipping factored in. You will not be charged until the ammo ships, so there will be time for last minute add-ons to help distribute shipping costs.

I saw the popularity of the previous ammo run of 223 that Triple R Munitions had and this program was born as a convenient cost effective way to have that for us in Nor Cal as well. Please respond with what quantities you may be interested in, and let us crunch the numbers and start to solidify the program. Hopefully we can use the program as a template for future Nor Cal ammo runs and keep some ammo coming our way to feed our habits.
Please note that these prices are before sales tax and shipping.

Upon availability of brass, we are looking to include this in the program.
Initial investigation has us around the $800 per 1,000 rounds range.

Yes it is.
I worked it out the details with Triple R Munitions to honor the same program pricing for you CalGun'ers down there..
The present deal has shipping included, but no tax if you can at least make the deposit by May 1st. Paying in full is obviously ok as you would not need to wait for the pallet to be completed.

For those of you picking up in person. after May 1st we will back out the few bucks worth of shipping, but then sales tax kicks back in.

If you would like to let me know what you are interested in, I can respond back with "before and after" pricing and get you rolling.

I'm overseeing the NorCal pallet run up to NorCal, but you can get the same price as we do, though. The trade-off is you are paying for shipping you won't use instead of sales tax. Assuming you can get Triple R Munitions a deposit before May 1st, that is. PayPal is plus the usual 3%.

Send me a PM with the quantity(s), caliber(s), and payment preference (check/USPS money order or PayPal) and I will get you bottom line pricing.
I can definitely help you from up here.

Thank you to the So Cal CG'ers for getting involved.
For those interested, SoCal orders can be picked up locally, scheduled with Triple R Munitions. Shipping is available too. Inquire within!
