After more research for the perfect 9mm pistol for me (ideally, a hammer, sa/da, reasonably priced), I have discovered the Sig Pro 2022. Does anybody have any experience with this gun? Apparently it didn't get a whole lot of publicity, but after a google search, it gets awesome reviews. The price seems cool too. Anybody with some experience, please chime in

Not a bad pistol. Cheapest new Sig you can get. The grip is a little fat but they have interchangeable grip panels. Looks like it meets all of your requirements. Start that 10 day wait :)

Also, check out the the FNH FNP9..

A friend of mine recently bought a Sig P2022 and personally, I didn't like it. The balance of it felt weird, a bit off from what I'm used to with other sig pistols. Still, a pretty nice gun as far as quality. I'm sure if I spent a few range sessions with it I could shoot it well, but I was surprised how sharply the recoil was felt with this gun. It seemed even more than with similar polymer framed guns.

the SP2022 is Sig best kept secret. the one i have the most experience with was chambered in .357Sig, they are accurate and usually come out of the box with a very nice DA/SA trigger.

they are a great buy as they are pretty much the way they were introduced (no added bling) and all the research and development was covered by their government contracts.

i don't own one because it doesn't do anything that my 226 or 228 already do, but i think they are a great starter pistol for someone on a budget

Have you looked in the CZ Line of 9mm, I just picked up a CZ 75 P-01, very nice! very well built, from reviews very reliable, and also NATO Approved.

+1 on the P-01, 3,100 rounds down the pipe with zero malfunctions. I have no experience with the Sig, so I can't comment on it.

the CZ P-01's safety just feels wrong, however the SP-01 is a great gun in 9mm...not so much in .40...if you don't mind the extra weight of the full length dust cover.

the DA can be tuned to unbelieveable smoothness and weight by Randy Lee of Apex Tactical in Morro Bay

you had me at :tt1:SIG:tt1:.....if you can find an LEO that is willing to part with their P228 i'd say go with that one, and if not get a P229 in 9mm.....then go with the P2022. just a personal preference, they're all VERY similar. :D

Haha I've already spoken with a mod to change the name. Anyways, I spoke with my guys over at my local gun shop and they are going to order me one. They sold out at the gun show. They gave me a fair price at $569. Not bad...oh and I did look hard at the various CZ's but they just didn't fit my hands. Every Sig I've held has been perfect. MY friend's have CZ's and I agree they are awesome, just don't feel right to me..

I actually just went through the P2022 vs CZ75B debate and I ended up ordering the P2022 from Buds. Ultimately the price won me over... I wanted a rail and the CZ75B SP01 models were $600+. Budsgunshop has the P2022 right now for $426 shipped which is a great deal. Given I wanted to use this as a training gun, I wanted something that I could moderately abuse without worrying about how much I paid for it.
