She typically will shoot this:

Then today, while on the range, out of the blue she asks if she could shoot the "big gun"

love it! how old is she? mine's 6 and has been asking to go out with us. I'd like to get her one of those little .22 rifles one day too.

She is 6, and the rifle is a Crickett .22lr youth rifle.(http://www.crickett.com/product_info.php?products_id=246&osCsid=5qho1p2cfka0q01nevdtbifjb0) Got it at Turners for under $200 out the door. The stock is available from the factory in pink, and I added the personalized decals myself.

The "big gun" is a Century AES-10B...it's about as close as you can get to the real deal semi-auto RPK in CA. 30 and 100 round drum mags bought back in '93...Monsterman grip FTW!!!!

Very cute pic -- wtg Dad!

Whenever I see little girls with supportive dads/big brothers, I smile because they'll be in the driver's seat on their first date :)

Thank you all for the kind words...I just don't want her to grow up thinking she can only do or like certain things because she's a girl. So far, so good...she's all into the princess thing, and loves pink, purple, and sparkles...but she also loves going shooting and 4wheeling with me. Looks like I'm gonna have to start saving up now for that pink Jeep on 40" mud tires she's gonna want for her sweet 16:chris:

Better save this pic of you and your girl... that shot is priceless!

What I would give for a pic of me and my dad when he let me shoot his Seko .30-06... was 1966 and I was 10... shwoo... what I would not give for a pic of that day.

Anyway... great pics, you are a very lucky man.

Great shot for her highschool yearbook photo from the parents. you know the section at the end where the parents post a picture from their childhood and give a personalized message. :43:

and speaking of wheeling, she was also upset about seeing Azusa Canyon OHV park under water on our way up to Burro Canyon.

Boys better not pull her pigtails!

I think it is really great you and your daughter share this hobby together. The confidence she is getting by not being afraid of things most little girls would be is going to pay off in lots of other areas of her life. She is learning she can be adorably cute, and tough at the same time, all while having fun quality time with Dad. That is priceless.

Good for her and good for you!

She likes the fact that one does not have to reload after every single shot like on her pink crickett rifle.

Here she is shooting at the 35 yard steel at Angeles:

She still shoots her pink crickett(you can kind of see it in the background here):
