View Full Version : Walmart rifle ammo not competitive??

While I find that handgun rounds prices - specifically 9mm when avaiiable - are unbeatable at Walmart, I find that there pricing for .223/5.56 is not competitive, perhaps 40-50c per round. The PMC I have been buying (over 200 rounds so far an no misfires) can be found at 33c approx per round at regular gun dealers on the web. Surely WM can do better on their rifle ammo prices??

I gave up on Walmart ammo long ago. Waste of time and gas. I buy most of my ammo from Gun Show Vendor Miwall. Winchester 147gr 9mm 500 rounds for $99.
Frankly, I dont think they care anymore. As 2011 looks like they will stop selling ammo altogether with the new Calif law that goes in place.

Even outside of CA they are expensive. I'm in Utah right now and they have a 200 round Federal value Pack for $78.97. Obviously this is not a good price at all.

is their 9mm truly unbeatable? Their 223 is very expensive

Here in Sacramento:
.223 20 round box of Remington = $13.99

TDS guns = $7.00 or $7.50 for PMC .223 20 round box or $350 per 1000 Round case.

Well worth the drive to Loomis. . .

I have looked hard for prices lower than Walmart on 9 mm and 45 ACP. I can't find anywhere lower. Sometimes I can find similar on 9 mm but not lower. As for rifle ammo, its just not competitive. I can walk into the local gun shop and get PMC for 40 cents per round. I'd much rather do that and support a local business. Yes, if you shop around you can do even better on rifle ammo.

100 rounds of 9mm Win white box for $21 bucks is pretty good
