Just heard from greasemonkey (Jon, event coordinator and C3 leader in the Valley) that the booth is a hit, and we've had numerous very positive contacts with members of law enforcement from CHP to Sheriffs. Wanted to pass this and these pictures along and will keep you apprised as the 3-day event develops.

Just out of curiousity, (I'm not being flippant) what is the purpose of the rifles? To attract visitors? I think I see one AR variant. I can see that as a teaching tool. Yet I see no AKs.

Are they meant as attention getters-- to get people to your booth? I assume you're not selling them. They're showpieces so you're acting kinda like a museum?

Anyway, good job.

Exactly correct. We usually have a number of AKs and ARs but this depends on the volunteers.

Did you guys have a GunPal flyer to hand out? If not I'd like for there to be one. I'd like to have a GP marketing flyer or brochure to hand out at gun shows, club shoots and dinners, etc.

We make it a policy for these to be informational in nature only, as as such do not produce or distribute any materials unrelated to CGF/CGN/NRA/CRPA/SAF efforts.

Our [free] product is the advancement of gun rights and firearms education; I don't wish to dilute that with the perception of pushing a for-profit product.

There will be opportunities for co-marketing and co-branding (as relates to CGN only) at gun stores and vendors in the near future. You might want to ping Ben on the GP related material.

I wonder who could have done those... ;)

Seriously, a huge hat tip and thanks to FastFinger, blackberg and Eric Mayer for producing and delivering about 25,000 pieces of material (and 4 awesome banners) on short notice; also, thanks to a non-CGN volunteer that designed the new CGF banners for us!

How many people are expected to attend the show?

Over 100,000 in the 3 days, likely 110k-ish depending on weather tomorrow.

Ok, so could we put together some CGF/SAF-in-NYS marketing (Info-marketing, as in "Hey, you guys should like this and need to care about this" because we've got some bad cultural inertia/apathy around here) materials then? Also, marketing GunPal is marketing the pro 2A effort: taking money away from PayPal who is against us and giving it to GunPal which is for us. That's about as important as anything else when you think about it.

We can talk about this offline (PM me for my phone), but our policy on commercial non-CGN or CGF goods at the booths is firm. I will do whatever I can to help you, however. Ping me when you have time.

Wow, that's a big audience.

From what I understand, and I'm not sure they stopped at ours (I doubt they would, considering they are neutral to anti-gun), The Governator and Meg Whitman were at the show today.

Heh.

I should have handed him a CGF anti-AB962 flyer and thanked him for saving us the trouble of suing CA. Oh, wait...

I would love to see the look on his face when you handed the flyer and said that. It would make a truly epic "priceless" or FAIL poster.

Wow, that's a big audience.

I'm surprised at that large of a number, too, since the appeals court pulled the plug (or the opposite, really) on the CA aqueduct. No water = no farming.

Maybe should have asked Arnie what he is working on to resolve that problem, too. Shortly before you handed him a bumper sticker.

I actually like the smell of cow/horse manure. Also, studies have apparently shown that those exposed to manure (dairyman, etc) have better respiratory health. :)

Hope we do a postmortem on this outreach event. My guess is that it will be successful in that a good number of attendees will visit these forums, and hopefully join out ranks.

I think we should continue to have events at gun shows, my feeling is that after 2 or so years of gun show participation we will have presented our message to 90% of the gun show attendees, at that point they will have looked us up, or they never will. In which case our energies would be better invested by having a presence at more general public venues - like the AG Expo.

Although enlisting the firearm friendly individual is our prime objective, there's also a lot of advantage to simply getting our faces and message before the vast "on the fence" silent majority, those people who are rabid antis, but aren't big aficionados either. We need to demystify gun ownership and show John & Jane Q. Public that gun ownership is not only legal, but normal, healthy, and important.

Personally I feel it's also critical that we have younger members, women, and minorities represented at these events.

Haha, Arnie work to resolve the water snafu, that's like asking the Brady bunch to assist in forming more constitutionally grounded firearm rights. The expo did not reflect how many thousands of acres of premium food production land have gone fallow this last year; and we have yet to see the total decrease in our water supply. It's absolutely disgusting, all this damage to hypotheticaly see if maybe we can get things back to how they didn't used to be.

At least the booth went well, though. It was sure a rush getting that going in 6 days!! I was thankful to have some awesome Calgunners step up and handle the challenge exceedingly well.

We're going to do just that and start getting involved in local farmers markets, street fairs and car/bike shows. Quite a few people showed up at the booth either new to shooting or interested in getting into it.
