EDIT in better taste.

I built my rifle exactly the way I wanted it, not following someone else or what trend was in. His weapon is very nice indeed but I wouldn't quite call them twins at all.

Thanks for the compliments though fellas.

Relax man.

I gave you a compliment and simply asked if it was inspired by another build. Did I say anything offensive???

Yikes....there's a millions of builds out there. Some of them are gonna be similar.

When I build my AR's, I'm sometimes inspired by certain factors of others I see.

thanks, yea, i used a folded up piece of cardboard, rustoleum primer gray, and primer dark gray spray from home depot.

Please elaborate??? That sounds deceptively easy for something that turned out so well. I'm going to attempt a rattle can job when I get my rig finished (yeah, like it will ever be finished), but at least when my scope arrives. I'm just worried it's gonna look like crap.

Yeah sorry dude I am not gonna lie, I am kind of a nutcase. Anyways thanks a lot and sorry.

Tell me about it. In all actuality most of it has seen quite a bit of dirt. My blouse far more than the rest though.

nah man, it is easy... just layer on light passes of spray. be patient and do multiple misted layers of paint. don't stay in one spot too long otherwise you'll get paint runs. practice on something else other than your rifle until you feel comfortable enough to take a spray can to it. worse comes to worse, you can do it over by cleaning it off with brake cleaner anyway. good luck with your build!

very loud, everyone thought it was a .308. I like it.:43:
Does a good job keeping the gasses out of my fellow shooters area. Unlike the PWS...its funny you shoot the PWS next to some one and they tend to move real fast.

Another cool feature from Valkyrie tactical.

yes, its a 5.56 single shot ...but its self loading, I load it myself. :o

I love the Nikon's they are very clear. I had a Leupold x10 in the past but I think the price makes Nikon a better scope. Its a BDC just incase I get better for long range action. But for now I'll stay on the 100 yard line.

So far its my favorite build.

But heres my 11.5/16" CMMG kiss build with pin/welded suppressor, 10/30 and b16 mag lock. After it gets out it might be my new favorite.

The MOE is super light and has a very comfortable grip to it. Feels natural.

I'd like to hang a VFG and an optic on it but I like the weight on it as is. Lets see how it shoots.

I wish I can find a brake that long but no one makes one.

I've thought of a permanent fake can for my 11.5/16" build, but I don't know if there's one that doesn't weight too much. I'd have to be careful though, because when I get orders back to Texas, I'm definitely hooking up an SBR and a real can!

I need to work on my photography skills and lighting. Some of you guys take amazing photos.

Here are my two M4's. 10/20's in both guns. Both now have the new CAL15-BS button.

BCM 14.5" with YHM pinned FH so we're at 16.1". BCG is from DD. On a Stag lower. M3 and a TLR-1 light on a MI FSB mount (added since photo). I think I may add a KAC hand stop to this one.

I built this CMMG 16" midlength earlier this year. CMMG middy upper, Daniel Defense Omega rail, stripped CMMG lower, Armalite LPK with tuned single stage trigger, Hogue grip, VLTOR stock, Magpul trigger guard and an Aimpoint M3 on an ARMS mount and spacer. The BUIS are MI. Midlength is really the only way to go with 16" barrel. Shoots MOA with Federal XM193 (and a Nikon scope)

The lighting used for the picture or the weapon light?

For the picture it was a semi long exposure with an assist of an indirectly placed Nikon SB600 and some incandescent outdoor lights that were far away.

The weapon light is a Insight Procyon WX150.

There is an adapter then the can is held using allen screws. I opted not to use the barrel screws as directed. It goes on tight but you can essentualy screw it on and off. Not sure what type of barrel washer you would need.
Its also alot lighter than I thought it would be.

I picked it up from a member as a used item in the classifides here.

Wouldn't the A2 sight interfere with the scope?

Nope. You don't even notice it as a haze at the bottom of your field of view except at low magnification. At 4x and up you don't see it at all. The Marines use ACOGs on their M16A4 sometimes at 4. With a fixed front sight and no problem. I never believed it would work until I tried it myself. I'm sure someone on here could start talking about the science behind it, I just know it works.

I have this ACOG set up. I believe how it works is because the sight post is so close the optic is not focused in on it. If you look closely you can see it.

Thanks! No the lens is not special, it is a Nikon 50mm Fixed at F1.8. The Blue light from behind is a surefire 6PLED with a blue-filter that I shined where I wanted it for about 1/4 the exposure. I was using it to see more detail on the gun and give a cool effect. The red is the PEQ15s visible laser, and can be seen so well because there was a slight fog that night.

About the magwell grip...I'm just exploring my options. I don't see myself using it very much, so it'll be coming off. It does a great job of covering the serial number for taking pictures, though.

Did you get that at the Del Mar GS? The guy at the showing was pushing them pretty hard. Great idea but I always use the forend grip. Any problem woth dirt getting in between the grip and the metal?

Naw, I bought it direct from a shop in Israel: www.zahal.org

I just installed the magwell today, but, I don't think dirt will build up inbetween the polymer and the metal. If it does, it takes about a minute to take it off for cleaning.

ProlificARProspect
10-16-2009, 2:55 PM
Yup, both are sighted in for the MRP.... The Ampoint fell off into my safe when I got my RCO-M4 and I love the RCO-M4, but the drawback with RCO is the fiber optics changes the chevron recticle in color with shadows and low light conditions, with the aimpoint its a define recticle and jumps up to your target.

Took it out to the range and liked it...RCO-M4/Aimpoint combo only good for CQB and low light conditions... if you dont mind using a RCO-M4 for CQB.

Great place to shoot, designated by the NV BLM for such uses. 15 min. from Las Vegas and the CA border off the I-15. My buddy discovered it after his son's Boy Scout troop needed a place to clean up for one of their community service projects. They clean up all the large items of trash every now and then so the free people of NV can go shooting and offroading in a relatively safe environment. So. Kal. used to have an abundance of places like this up until the early 90's. Good luck finding one now....:(

one of my cali ars.......i have a couple more ill past later, plus im working on a carbine length build right now. just waiting for the upper and wilson barrel, and a whole grip of extra goodies

ive done alot of OD green paint jobs. krylon makes the best camo paint, and their OD green is spot on military OD....you not supposed to have to, ut i always hit it with a matte sealant to keep wear down on it. works wonderfully.

the gun above was factory teflon black, then i hit the furniture with OD,played with that awhile, then got tired of it and hit it with black again. the black i used was actually a brand ( cant remeber which right now) of plastic dashboard/upholstery spray paint......its VERY tough, dries VERY fast, and pretty much duplicates the factory teflon finish on receivers, or the black that AR furniture is originally( even though the spray isnt teflon...lol)...did i mention its VERY tough?....

if anyone is interested, i can check the brand and post it.

I suck at taking pictures, but here's my latest:

Calguns lower
DPMS upper w/ bull barrel
CAA grip
RRA LPK
RRA Operator stock
EOTech 557 w/ 3x magnifier
10/20 mag
Bullet button

It's a bit front heavy but we'll see how she does at the range. I may eventually put a scope on and move the EOTech setup over to a new, lighter build.

Lower receiver is from Kaiser Defense's CalGuns.net state version made right here in San Diego, Ca. Rock River Arms lower parts kit used.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b23/bweek/DSC00062.jpg

Quick specs: Stag 2HT complete upper on the aforementioned lower receiver.
I went ahead and ordered a few goodies to upgrade already. Ergo pistol grip, Magpul MOE trigger guard, Yankee Hill carbine sling adapter and I'm going to try out a knock off of the ACOG TA31. Can't wait for that too!

Sure.

Stag-15 lower receiver
LMT M4 upper w/LMT bolt carrier group
Samson MRFS-C free float rail system
RRA parts kit
RRA National Match 2-stage trigger
RRA M4 6-position stock
A.R.M.S. flip up rear iron sight
Tango Down front pistol grip

How much in total was spent putting this rifle together? Easily duplicated? My husband was looking into buying a rifle from dpms or stag assembled and ready to go, as well was advised by a retail to buy one of their signature rifles.

But he would really want to build his own rifle. How hard to assemble? Did you use an online guide?

Building is easy. Most AR's can be built for around $1100-$1500 depending on components. Even for high end manufactuers like Daniel Defence they go from $1150-$1550.

If your spending more you should be getting a high end brand like Noveske or LWRC.

If your in orange county stop by riflegear. They can give him all the info hes looking for and you can check out the Hello Kitty AR. :D

Those Micro Aimpoints have really gained in popularity. Planning to use one on an AK build in the hopes it will actually beable to co-witness the sights. But I think it would be pushing it even with that small of a sight. The AK sights are so low.

Lots of real nice kit there. Nice paint as well. Do you plan on painting the Aimpoint and magnifier? How does your PEQ15 function with the MBUS front?? I run a Troy front and I barely clear it and get a little bit of splash back with the Iluminator. I was under the impression that the MBUS is even bigger.

Best part(s) about the house is:

1. Its 5 min. south of Laughlin
2. Its 200 yards from the Colorado River.
3. The only thing between our backyard and the River is BLM land.
4. 3 bed 3 bath house built in 2005 cost $105k.

I love it.

That is some good photo shopping or a very cool serial number

I photoshopped the serial number to all zeroes

wildcrafter's mount is an American Defense brand mount. As I understand it they are owned by the same people as Daniel Defense, a huge name in the AR world. They are great mounts. I've used their ACOG and AIMPOINT mounts with great success. On par with LaRaue, IMHO. And yes, his front sight is on backwards. Perhaps it did not fit the normal way. Doubt it will affect performance. Height should be the same when flipped up, right?

Great pictures Uno! how do you like the micro T1? I'm deciding between that and a CompM3 at the moment.

Thanks, I was looking at all the the LaRue mounts and none had the small add-on, but I found it.

I'm not UNO but have used a friend's T1 on his gun and picked one up for one of my own carbines. Absolutely love it. Does everything that the bigger aimpoints can do, but in a smaller package. The only downsides to the T1 is that there are no mounts out there that can store a spare battery and is only available with a 4 MOA dot.

My primary carbine will soon lose it's ML2 for a T1.

you dont need no stinkin spare battery!

the T1/H1 dot is actually more like 3 MOA.

I noticed that too, the T1 dot is better defined than my ML2's making it look smaller than 4MOA.

Old picture of my primary carbine. She now sports a LMT SOPMOD stock and no Daniel Defense Burnsed receiver end plate. I love the purple Barney lower for what it is.

Old picture of my tertiary carbine. She no longer has the TD VFG and Daniel Defense Burnsed receiver end plate. This carbine will be soon wearing a SOPMOD stock. Docter Optic or Burris Fastfire II will be in the works.

No pics of my secondary and quarternary carbines.

Just curious because I have the same upper...does the DD Omega rail twist or turn when using the VFG?

The Omega locks up solid. No movement whatsoever.

Werd. DD makes some good stuff. :)

If you have a tad bit of movement or "play" it is not the rail. At least, not likely to be the rail. Odds are you need an AccuWedge between your upper and lower. Any play at all between them feels drastically magnified if using a VFG. Its more perception than reality. Most ARs have a little play between the upper and lower. All the rails I've used, free floating and otherwise, locked up real tight.

There is a minimal amount of twist/rotation with the TD VFG on the DD Omega, but is not due to the rail. These Omegas lock into the gun TIGHT!

Primary carbine's backup upper is almost complete. Just need to get a DD Omega 7.0. So far, I am really digging this setup and might make this the primary carbine's primary upper.
