Greetings all. I'm 3 months new to Calguns and recently posted an ad in the Private Firearms For Sale section. I haven't received any responses, but many views. I'd like to know what I am doing wrong, so any critique would be appreciated. Please be brutally honest! Picture not clear enough? Goofy user name? Price to high? To new of a member?

My post is:
WTS: S&W M&P 40 Price Reduced! SoCal area

Thank you!

I just purchased one brand new for 479 in Orange County. The Sigmas were 379 and the M&P were 479.
Mail in rebate too for $50 or 2 extra mags.

So price is a bit too high.

You also need to realize that most people are hurting for money right now, still paying off their holiday purchases.

I have a Winchester '97 up that's only been getting nibbles for the last two months that probably would have sold in a week if I'd posted it before December.

Its the price. With that rebate, there is just no reason anyone needs to buy a used gun at about the same price. Why not hang on to it, maybe S&W will remove the promo, and you can sell it for what you want to sell it for, however, that promo has been on and off for the better part of 2 years. Good Luck.

As others pointed out, it's the price. With the price of a new one being lower, and the used ones often going for lower 400's (I got my M&P 40 for $425 with 3 mags last year, when people were crazy for anything black and semiauto). Economy being what it is and the buying craze being largely over doesn't help things much (or does, depending on the perspective).
