Building up a dedicated Spikes Tactical .22LR AR-15.

Are there any parts excluded from the .22LR that are normally used for the centerfire builds? i.e does the .22LR build still utilize a buffer/buffer spring etc.

Thanks

From what I know you won't need it. The 22 bolt moves in itself (notice the spring on top) and the whole BCG won't move back like the AR.

You won't need the buffer tube, spring, or buffer at all.

Thanks for the info, that will save some time and money for sure.

I suppose i'd still need a buffer tube to mount an adjustable stock on though :)

Hmm, removing the spring and buffer will save some weight. I like it!

You can get a folding stock kit to make it ultra compact as option.

Make sure it's 26 inches minimum with stock folded. On my Spike's upper with 16 inch barrel, the length up to from tip of flash hider buffer tube is 24 inches. Would need to put a extension on the barrel to make it legal with the folding stock.

No gas tube either....in case you're assembling your own upper. So you won't need a gas block either.

Oh, and forward assist and bolt release won't/don't work...at least on the Spike's bolt anyway. I'm not sure if other designs include this "functionality".
