Hey, title pretty much sums it up.

I am looking for an affordable ar-15 upper, other than dpms, I am looking to spend around 400.00 for a 16in flat top 1 in 9 non chrome.

Does anyone know of any other upper receiver manufacturers with an affordable line similar to dpms.

Thanks guys, also down the line I am going to be looking for a 24in with a free float tube.

CMMG makes some good stuff for pretty cheap, I picked up a lower from them for $500, 16in chrome lined 1:7 barrel with m4 feed ramps. I used all the money I saved on ammo.

model 1 sales 500 for the complete kit minus lower, you can get the 16'' or 24'' upper for that price and also have the lpk, buffer tube, stock for your 24'' you want to build.

I'd say BCM, but I just checked and they are out of stock:

PK Firearms has 16" M4 style uppers in stock by Rock River and Daniel Defense for just under $500.00, including bolt carrier assembly.

Avoid Model1 unless you want lots and lots of headaches/problems.

I hear alot of this but I have a few different uppers and 1 was bought to be as cheap as I could find (model 1) and lot of the parts are the same as other... And I have had no issues... When do these headaches and problems start and where?

Like with some, if not all companies, M1 has issues. M1 is notorious for poor QC. at a level that surpasses most everyone else in the market.

These issues as said above are just more common with them...that's their rep.

Here are some common findings.

~ Failure to drill a gas port. (not catching this mistake)
~ Miss sized gas port. Rifle size port on a carbine.

Like I said, QC is sometimes an issue with every company...some like M1 just have more issues than others. It just happens more often with them.
