Looking for a mid-length 20 flat top AR 15 upper 1:9 twist in 5.56 cal.
Chrome Molly I was thinking RR or DPMS.

Not many mid lengths with 20" barrels. Most are 16".

They exist (I think at least), but will be harder to find.

Dunno if they exist either....the rifle length gas system works beautifully with the rifle length barrel.

Ya... I think once you hit 18", everything is rifle length.

LaRue has 1/8 twist 20" for $1200.

Why on earth would you want an improperly gassed rifle?

mid-length is for 13.5-16.5" barrels. Rifle is 17"+

different barrel lengths require the gas blocks at different spots on the barrel. Too short a distance from gas block to BCG could cause many issues while too long a distance could cause the BCG to not cycle far enough back to either strip and feed a round from the magazine or eject the spent casing.

You have to keep in mind that you have to have enough gas pressure traveling back towards the upper receiver and BCG to push the BCG back far enough to strip the next round off the magazine or lock up against the bolt catch. On the other hand too much pressure could cause lots of issues namely potential injury to the operator of the firearm.

Might you be confused? Is there a reason you want a mid-length?

Help us understand what you're trying to get and why.

Maybe he wants a quad rail but doesn't want the extra weight of a 13+" and wants the rail to cover the full length of the gas tube?

Probably....asthetics over function.
