is there a difference if any between a gas piston bcg and a direct impingement gas system bcg????:wheelchair:
sage advice is needed for a fledgling.

Yes, but there's no "piston BCG" standard.
The primary difference is the actual gas-oriented parts of DI are changed and/or deleted in favor of parts that are desinged for the piston.
For example, the gas key is often replaced (or modified to be a part of the carrier). Gas rings are removed from bolts. The shape of the carrier itself if sometimes modified. The cam pin is sometimes modified. There are sometimes springs behind the bolt.
