Pro: 1/9 twist rate is better for lighter ammo. It's perfect for the common 55gr plinking ammo, and it's acceptable for the 62-65gr rounds.

Con: 1/9 twist rate won't properly stabilize the heavier 77 and 85gr rounds. If you're going into battle, you want 1/7.

Con: The stock is a basic carbine stock similar to the RRA

For all I know, it may BE the RRA stock. Anyways, it lacks battery storage for optics/laser/tactical light
That said, it's easy enough to change out. I don't know if it's a commercial or mil-spec buffer tube. If it is mil-spec, you can swap in any number of Magpul or Vltor stocks and still be ahead of the game on cost

Pro: At $1400, you're getting a complete gas-piston rifle with Troy folding sights for less than a LaRue DI upper with the same sights.

Pro: Hogue grip

Con: Hogue grip lacks internal compartment for battery storage

There have been reports of carrier tilt.

Non a problem, Ruger has a life time warranty, not to mention it takes them a life time to replace it.

Pro- For $1495 you get a piston rifle...

Con- For $200 more I got a New LWRC M6A3 that has a better stock, better grip, and comes from a CA friendly company that designs ONLY piston rifles.

Granted, it's not every day you see a M6A3 go on sale for $1700.

Ruger tested the SR556 with all standard bullet weights and it performed well with up to 77 gr. In fact, the greatest accuracy during testing was with the 77 gr. rounds.

Pro: chrome-lined barrel, production volumes=>overall reliability.
Pro: Ruger long-term parts availability makes this piston design a "standard"
Con: gas piston, when regular ARs work just fin
Con: 1/9" bbl twist, when 1/7" twist would be best for heavier loads
