Sage EBR Tactical Stock System is pretty awesome but it's not cheap ($600) but cheaper than a SOCOM and more badass IMHO.

Sure. Just have your barrel cut. SA uses a special brake on the socom so I would only have it cut down to about 18" like the scout. People do this pretty routinely with mini 14s.

Who did and how much was the work? I have a "Loaded" and I am not all that keen on chopping a NM barrel however, this rifle isnt shot much because of the bulk of it. Boy am I lazy.

AR15 Barrels, Sorry for taking so long with this but after being berated by everyone I know for considering chopping a National Match barrel I think I am gonna save up for a real SOCOM. I tried to PM you but it wont take a PM for you.

Thanks
Bruce

m1a is a great rifle as is. wouldn't be easier to keep what you have and buy a socom?

Don't get me wrong. Changing the stock is one thing but one person suggested cutting the barrel also. That is more of what i was referring to.

If you don't want the M1A sell it and get a socom. If you have 1300 bucks into the m1a and ad a stock and cut it(the barrel) thats more than a socom. My socom cost me $1560 plus the trijicon i put on it about $550.

I really like that SAGE stock. Stupid ugly all by itself, but really transforms the M1A into a tactical set up. Looks great when fully assembled!!!

When I was in the market, I was very impressed with the SOCOM, but hated the thick, heavy sights. Probably great within 100 yards, but it explains why a lot of folks switch them out to the National Match sights.

Regards,

John

This is about as compact as you can get with an M1A (SOCOM with a shortened stock):
