View Full Version : MY SPR is FINISHED!

DanHuuN

My OLD/NEW SPR is finally finished. I've had this thing together for quite some time and needed to get some BUIS and Scope for it. With money left over from my intended funds for gambling in Vegas for Shot Show, I decided to go for it and finish this project.

Let me know what yall think, I'm pretty happy with it.

Gotta break in the barrel this weekend at Jackson Arms, you know, shoot clean shoot clean. Timely process! But I'll be heading to Richmond hopefully soon to sight her in and see how she shoots. UPDATE LATER!

Why did you think I was from SoCal? Hahaha, nothing wrong with that but yea…

I haven’t been to Chabot yet. Heard it’s a pretty nice spot but for whatever reason I haven’t made it out there.

Also, thanks for posting them up for me, I like the thumbnails because it takes up less space and give everyone the option to look only at certain ones. LOL But thanks again!

Nice rifle! Bring it out to sac valley and shoot distance with it!

How far is the range at Sac? I oughta bring her out there and shoot, probably be a good idea to take my 700 out there too.

Maybe because you post a lot with pacrimguru, and I guess I thought you were from that area since I see you and him post in the same threads I read ;)

Sac valley has a long distance range out to 1000 yards @ 200, 300, 500, 600, 800, 900, and 1000 yard increments. You should come practice with the tac shooter. tac practice is the 1st saturday of every month. Just come with a good 100 yard zero and some match ammo and that gun will take you to 800 easy. PMC plinker ammo will go out to 600 max and be within the silhouette. I practice with it in my A4 during the extra time I have after using my bolt gun.

Cool, that sounds great! Once I got her Zeroed in, I'll try and head out there.

Yea, they do, as long as its not Armor Piercing, steel core, or tracers.

How's the geiselle trigger with the kns pins? I heard some people had issues with that combo, not sure, maybe it was with timney?

Awesome rifle btw

I have a similar setup, DD Lite rail though and standard trigger with a SS variable scope. It is very accurate, I was thinking of of changing to a PRI handguard and using the DD rail for another upper build. Nice setup !

looks like a 5.56? if so, what kind of distance would you expect to get out of that kind of setup?

Ixnay on the barrel break-in:

http://www.snipercountry.com/Articles/Barrel_BreakIn.asp

Gale McMillan has forgotten more about barrels than anyone of us will ever know, and after having done the barrel break-in and not, I see no difference in performance between a broken-in barrel and one not broken-in,especially on a self loader.

Curious, of your 5 KNS/Geissele setup combo, any of them use the:

Geissele AR15 Super Semi-Automatic Trigger - Small Pin?? with KNS pins? smooth sailing with this combo?

also, wanted to confirm, i should get the small pin geissele SSA (.154 in?)

thanks for any info

DanHuuN

4 of mine are the SSA with standard .154 KNS
1 of mine is the Super Match with .154 KNS

Awesome build. I was wondering, how do you like that bipod and where did you get it. I'm shopping around and like the vltor bipod but it's out of stock in most places. Thanks

Sorry, I just saw this question. I got the Atlas Bipod because it offers pan and tilt and NO EXPOSED SPRINGS. My favorite of all, I had the Vltor, Harris, Versa-pod, Tangodown. All great bipods, but the Atlas, for me atleast, offers the best of all worlds.

Got it from Accu-shot.com. Great place!

To the OP: I was wondering if you got the barrel from Noveske black? Or did you blacken it yourself? I recall only seeing stainless steel (brushed finish) barrels in the SPR config.

Noveske had this run of 18'' Stainless and painted black barrels with an Intermediate gas system. My buddy grab a bunch and then we got these built up.

Looks like you got all the bases covered with that one!

I try:p Thanks though!

DanHuun,

how's the LT158 mount working for you? it's a little bit lower then the LT104, right?

Curious, cuz i dont want to have my scope sitting too high, nice snug fit right over the BUIS, is sweet. The whole time i though you had a LT104 on there.

Larue's site only has LT104 with NF2.5-10x-32 combo.

I didnt get the Nightforce from LaRue. I actually bought it them separately. The 158 isnt much shorter than the 104. I forgot what LaRue told me, but it isnt much of a difference

i really doubt you want to pay jackson arms rates (what is it these days about $15/hr) to break-in a barrel. head out to chabot for a nice day in the park. you can shoot all day long there for the same price as 1 hr at jackson arms- plus you'll get to shoot further than 25yds...

I hear ya, but Jackson Arms is a great place, at least my experiences anyways. It's the closes range the Bay Area has access to especially when you just wanna go get some shooting done. Breaking in the barrel is just breaking it in, IMO. Shooting the 100+ I'll save for a day when I can manage some time to do so. I work 2 jobs currently 10am-11pm so I hardly have time for much.

I ordered the trigger guard and had it sent to my cousin in Utah, he then shipped it to me:D

Nope, no class needed. I know they have a Novice class for people who are trying to get into shooting sorta. It's a basic class though, then they have other classes that go into different things.

What range did you go to?
