I wonder how much it would be for just the upper.

Why?
The lower might be compatible with other uppers though.

Barney Gumble

Because depending on the price of the upper, it might be cheaper to roll your own.

Or if you already have a lower that fits it and you don't need another one.

What lower is out there that would fit this? This doesnt take Armalite mags, it takes SR-25 mags btw.

I wonder if this could go on a Hesse. Hmm. SR-25 even

Armalite AR-10 mags are modified M1A mags. The LMT will use STONER pattern Armalite mags, like the SR-25 does.

PS -- For $2500, the idea of "rolling your own" from parts is pretty dumb. Get it the way nature and Karl Lewis intended...

Really? Thats interesting. What Armalite guns originally used the same mags that the SR-25 does? Too bad they didnt make the AR-10 to use them. They kick ***.

"Armalite pattern" is how they refer to them. I hope this is not going to as confusing as that inch/metric FAL dealio...

So what is the advantage of this over say a FAL.

1) I don't know if they have made a proprietary lower -- until I know that, how can I endorse just buying an upper? You can put an AR-10 upper on a Noveske or an Aero -- but not a DPMS, for example -- if the complete gun is reasonably priced, and building it might be difficult right now, what would be the advantage?

I just thought it was awfully ironic that you were being so judgmental given that you don't know the facts about the pricing yourself.

Is the LMT a DI or Piston upper? Not very familiar with these things.

Also, are the uppers compatable with other lowers? Armalite, DPMS, etc?

They make both in 5.56 but the 7.62 is currently only offered as DI.

More accurate

How much more. And more importantly, more accurate at the cost of reliability/durability or more accurate and just as reliable? I've always been wary of AR clone in larger calibers because I don't think the design is adequate for the extra wear and tear.

MSRP is $2500 as stated, if you're a dealer it's **** <- Cant say!:p:D

But I ordered 2 when I was ready to order 1 at MSRP, thanks to Laurie who talked to me at SHOT!

Worked just fine. Canadian Army used it for years.
Only the brain trust in the US liked the design but wanted it in 5.56 so our soldiers could miss more.

First off THANK YOU NewYawker!
Those shots are Money
It also looks sooo much better with a painted barrel, non chromed.

Is the LMT a DI or Piston upper? Not very familiar with these things.

Also, are the uppers compatable with other lowers? Armalite, DPMS, etc?

And to answer some questions:
The LMT MWS is compatible with the KAC rifles (M110, SR-25, etc) at least thats the rumor
It is DI and takes Stoner mags. Which are readily available and Magpul even makes their polymer version

Again thank you Yawker, just beatiful
I hope to get a 18"...someday:32:

I'm with you. I want an 18 inch fluted polygonal HB but with a gas piston and a monolithic rail.

My perfect gun.
